Not really. If anything, it gives them more room to create and change than if they had just done another season back-to-back.

I am still wondering how Roseanne is continuing when the whole point of the final season was that she was dreaming it all up because her husband had died.

While I didn't see much of the original Roseanne (which, quite frankly, I didn't like), from a clip I heard on NPR they lampshade the fact that they're either disregarding it or turning that into a dream when Roseanne mentions, "I thought you were dead. You looked so peaceful" or something along those lines
