The day is finally upon us. The fate of our universe will be revealed today. Goku/17/Frieza vs. Jiren. Who will win?! I guess we'll find out very soon.

I'm sad this is coming to an end (for the time being). But the final part of this arc has been worth it all.

What a great ending. Sort of predictable, but great nonetheless.

At the end the tournament was going to be an erase all or save all one. Really sucks if the winning universe had given it their all, only to make some other wish and get eliminated anyway.

But GODDAMN Goku and Frieza fighting together, AND 17 being the tournament winner. MVP and the victor, fuck yes. And he even got to go on his cruise! Frieza being revived was great, as well.

I am going to miss my Saturday night DBS routine.

it just felt like such a forced moment of just trying to jack off 17 some more, as if the whole arc wasn't already a huge masturbatory event for him

I mean with that ending it made sense for 17 to be the last one left on the field what with that whole "U7's power of Trust" bit -- I'll even say it's a good justification for him not actually being dead. But man Super enough of the fluff.

Surprised no brought up that Tights (Bulma's sister) actually showed up in the end.

Still even though the show's over I'd like to see them explore more of the other universes in future media, maybe they can give some other universes an OVA, TV Special, spin off manga like Jaco or a filler episode to flesh them out more- only 6, 10 and 11 feel fleshed out and minor snipits of 2, 9 and 4.. And we still know nothing about 1, 5, 8 and 12. In fact this arc feels way too early since the other universes are so underdeveloped to feel like a proper climax.

Also I liked the idea that whoever wished back the universes also wished back the 6 universes that Zeno erased prior to the tournament where possibly stronger antagonists than Jiren may have been.

And they never explained why Universe 2 has a Yardrat and a Tuffle.

Holy fuck the end of Dragonball being Base Goku and Base Frieza fighting together while Goku desperately tries to power up to SSJ so they can land one last sacrificial blow with their power was just amazing...

No doubt, a lot of people suspect the hiatus is due to Bulma's Japanese voice actor dying in a car crash a few months ago, she got a new one in a commercial recently but they probably are taking a break out of respect for her.

I just hope when it comes back they don't waste everyone's time by remaking the next movie into episodes like they did at the start of Super.

They did say it was the end of the Super series. The franchise ain't over but it'll probably be under a new name.

Which is for the best tbqh, Super sucked so I'm excited to start fresh on a new series.

Super was fanservice, plain and simple, with all the callbacks to previous attacks and scenes and whatnot. If you liked that, you liked super. If you wanted more actual substance, you didn't like super. That's how I see it.

I was always hoping when the tournament started that a more minor character would be the last one standing (aka not a Saiyan or Frieza). 17 wasn't a bad choice in this regard. Piccolo would've been better (and he got a BS elimination to boot). Also the ending was pretty obvious. The entire thing may as well just have been a test for the mortals.

I'm most pleasantly surprised that they kept Frieza on the right side of the grey area and never had him do anything stupid/universe risking once the tournament started. (Who didn't think Goku losing UI was his fault at first?). He was smart enough to understand the situation throughout, saves a lot of his energy for when it's important, and even helps Goku recover ("to repay a debt"). He later saves Goku, and takes the blow to his pride at the end by both teaming up with and begrudgingly trusting the Saiyan he hates even more than the rest, as far as running a double-kamikaze attack alongside him. He was willing to completely let go being the last one standing in the critical moment.

Frieza didn't get a lot of airtime, but usually he had quality when he did. The way he manipulated Frost was gold. He was so much better this arc than I expected him to be.

Here is the thing. He was SO awful in RoF. So we were right to expect nothing from him this arc. But god he was amazing. I was LEGIT happy at the end that space Hitler became a Universal Emperor again... and if that doesn't say more about how well they did him in ToP I don't know what could.

I honestly thought the middle was actual trash and the most difficult part to get through all of super.

Everything to do with Kale and the Reverse SailorMoon girls was just plain garbage and ugh

By middle I mean the direct stretch from the 1-hour special through Kefla.

Kefla arc is the highlight of the whole series. As tired as I've been on the overuse of Goku for most of the ToP, it was nice seeing actual personality come out through that fight which let me enjoy the whole set, and then the last episode capped it off with animation bliss.

every other universe ranged from meh to suck, with 2 being the biggest waste of everything. Cleopatra couldn't lose fast enough.
