for starters, the animation budget from the last few episodes clearly went into this one. such a good looking fight from start to finish with only one or two scenes that seemed notably reused.

but then that twist at the end.

It is very cool to me that they have given 17 so much attention. I wish they would find more ways to do that for other non-Saiyans. Piccolo especially deserves to be important again.

Piccolo's role is basically "Gohan's actual dad."
they've no reason to buff the green guy without his son getting the rub, so that's out.

17 though, i have no idea who decided to make a surprise best character of the arc but goddamn. the best part is that since he's got infinite energy he should still be able to fight at peak levels too, so he may be stronger than a worn down Frieza here.

When I was in Japan I remember tuning into some show that had him (dressed up as 17) and Nozawa as guest appearance... I thiiink this was might've actually been before 17 was announced to come back? I forget.

honestly all the stories i've heard about this episode across Mexico, Central, and South America are unreal. stadiums filling up to see it, conferenes, panels, cosplay contests, even soccer teams having homages. this is peak DBZ levels of craze.
