Yeah, the LN seems to be more on the actual shogi, from the half-volume sample I read. The former fan translator said the shogi parts are really well-researched.

I've also heard the shogi parts of the anime were actual strats, except they skip a bunch of steps in between

I get the actual shogi-ness of the LN, but as a guy with 0 interest in shogi, I'm appreciating the focus on more anime-friendly (as weird as that may sound) parts, like loli pandering and confessing to little girls

It's a Studio Trigger show. Of course it's going to take a dramatic left turn about half-way through the series. Expecting anything less would be silly.

saki is legit in the sense that they actually make hands that make sense and make decisions that make sense (taking into account their powers) but everyone is about 100x as lucky as a normal person even when no powers are involved so scores are always super high

also their decisions don't always make sense in that they tend to go for the absolutely ridiculously unlikely stuff that should never work but somehow does. But I mean if you look at their hands (it cuts to shots of them a lot) and see what they discard each turn based on their hands and other peoples' discards it's usually pretty sensible

Little Witch Academia was beautiful. I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more. Fantastic. That was so damn good.

And I don't know what I'm watching Spring. The only for sure is Magical Girl Ore. It's gonna save anime I tell you.

Whatever else is most likely going to come from people here telling me to watch stuff. Then I gotta maybe do that but I'm really bad at watching weekly unless I'm really hyped. Like say JoJo or see above. Then I'll watch it or binge it on a later date. Or forget about it like that one show Spidey tells me to watch. I'm gonna watch it one of these days I swear my dude.

Yeah it's my favorite Trigger work by a huge margin. I loved everything about it. I was a big Harry Potter fan growing up, but unlike how angsty HP was, this was just pure fun and delightful

I think I agree. Although I've only seen Kill la Kill and Luluco from Trigger.

It was so fun. It never failed to make me smile and laugh. Characters were great, I liked pretty much everyone. Had a badass artsyle. I don't think there was a single bad episode. Even managed to bring in some feels here and there. It was just such a fun show, and it was just good all around. It was just good. Just good.

Plus it had Chumlee from Pawn Stars.
