She brushed him off, and as she was walking off the bastard shot her. You're not allowed to carry a gun in Brazil, so she carries a knife instead. She literally just turned around and stabbed the guy. She's okay, just needs some time to recover, but it solidified that she's a total bad ass. People don't tend to be able to stab somebody right after getting shot, and even if they had the physical ability to do so, the shooter would probably just shoot again. It's too weird that after somebody makes a joke about shurikens, apparently she just happened to have sent you a picture of hers the day of the shooting. It's also weird that she either brought those along on a trip and bothered to unpack them and carefully arrange them, or took the photo earlier but for some reason waited to send it to you. Her weird definitions of "a few days" and "earlier in the week" make it look like you're just inventing the story details on the spot without regard for how they add up.
