Even this season alone, Killing Bites is more vile than Citrus even has the capability of being in theory. That's a show that people really should be ashamed about having in their queue, assuming they're actually defending it and not watching it BECAUSE it's awful.

That's a fair point about Scum's Wish too, I guess I just couldn't look past it.

I think the main thing that allows me to forgive it is that her reward is only a reward because, in real life, it's almost always seen as a celebration of life and love. But to her, it's just a new status. She claims she'll still be doing what she does because that's just the way she wants to go about her life, so the reward has no positive value. No negative value either, but, as I said, I view the marriage as character building for Hanabi, rather than the show trying to squeeze a positive outcome for the couple. I also think it just wants us to see that, find it dumb, and forget about that entire plotline in the end, much like how Hanabi learns to forget about it as well.

God I loved that show.

Honestly I find Darling in the FranXX way more insulting than Killing Bites, which is at least honest about what it wants to be and therefore handles it better. The fights in KB are great too, and it has fun animal facts!

Also first 5 minutes nothing, I stand by that show having the worst first episode, to me personally, of any anime I've ever seen. Literally not a single tidbit of redeeming value. I am actually impressed by just how much it turned me off, and very proud of myself for getting through it.

Well I think the doggy style mech design alone more than covers how FranXX tries to be overtly sexual. And I still haven't seen the latest episode but the one before it was an awful cliche filled with awful cliches "oh no the boys walked in on the girls bathing, never seen that before" and it ended on an insultingly sexist note from both sides, which was weirdly impressive.

Anyway we don't have to argue about this if you don't want to. I think it's funny how everyone seems to hate different things for similar reasons sometimes.

I thought that episode was amazing! The latest as well, probably more your taste there. Really it's been nothing but the highest quality since 5. If we're talking televised anime it's very solidly at #1 for the season, and the only anime I've actively been keeping up with for weeks now while I've been falling behind.

But yeah, different strokes!

The fight in episode 1 was super uninteresting and the show looks bad, too, so if that IS the show then I'd hope it got better.

FranXX is sill building it's world, but gender and attraction seem to have a crucial role in it's totality. I can understand people being turned off because of it, though, since it's been a pretty slow burn into creating meaning out of it's innuendo.

Never seen Killing Bites because I know I wouldn't enjoy it.

The first 4 episodes are a real misstep in retrospect. Maybe by the end it'll be a better on rewatch situation, but....didn't start super strong, really just getting by on aesthetic.

Now it's sitting real pretty at #1, surpassing Antartica somehow which also just keeps getting better.

Yeah KB is absolutely not best of the season or anything (insert my obligatory mention of Katana Maidens), I just don't understand how fanservice in KB is bad if the fanservice in FranXX is good.

I don't hate FranXX for the fanservice, poorly handled though it is. I hate it mostly because I'm still waiting for the plot to tell me why I should care and I'm starting to suspect it never will. That said I am an episode behind so maybe I'm already wrong

It's some character building, but not anything huge in plot development. Honestly, if you aren't the least bit intrigued, I can't imagine you'll find whatever payoff they're cooking up to be satisfying.

I really thought I'd already made this clear in the past, but I care a lot about why an anime has fansevice if it's gonna have it. Even if it's not super prevalent, are you gonna actually try and tell me the bare tits and girl on girl makeouts are for any reason other than fetishization to boost sales? It's not a classy show.

All you really need to prove their intentions is that the women are 20% furry and the men are 80% furry. If the girls were also 80% we wouldn't be having this conversation, but they knew what they were doing when they made this.

Watched the beach episode of Franxx

alright I'm a sucker for abandoned places so that was pretty cool considering there's a WHOLE lot of world building mysteries that show has that could be pretty good. I kind of hate that they're putting Ichigo in a love triangle with Hiro and 002 because she's better than that I feel but we'll see how it goes.

I do have to mention though with the previous episode, did that shit infecting him just clear up because....he believed in himself and found a new reason to fight? Man that's the most anime of anime tropes ever. I assume it'll come back since he still has a scar but like, the fact that it actually went away is kind of eye-rolling a bit.

I just finished watching Claymore. I'm pretty sure it was Mac who recommended this, but regardless, thank you to whoever it was. There were a few rough patches, especially towards the end, but overall I enjoyed it! Clare and Teresa especially were great. I also enjoyed how, in quite a few team battles, they used their unique abilities together in strategic ways. I always love it when fights have stuff like that.

Raki was lame though. I thought his arc was building up to him helping Clare but then in the end he hindered her more than anything. Let her kill the mass-murdering monster you dumb kid.

Ah, that makes sense then. It did feel like those last few episodes began something and then resolved it really fast.

It's too bad anime doesn't generally seem to fully adapt the source material. I think I'm used to it by now and I can usually read about the actual endings online somewhere, but it isn't the same as actually watching it.
