Because I find them fun and enjoy target shooting. *shrug*

At least when it comes to AR/AK Rifles.

For pure "defense" reasons, Shotgun for home and small handgun for personal are really all you realistically need. It kind of blows me away when gun people get upset with me because I just carry a 5 shot revolver as my conceal carry. Like...I'm not looking to get into a big shootout. If I *have* to shoot it's only if I'm cornered and probably in close proximity.

Target shooting, plinking, and competition shooting is fun as fuck.

Keeping your loved ones safe takes more then a security system and hoping the cops will arrive in time to help you. It also gives many women a means to prevent assault and rape from happening to them.

They do if the time comes. Point being the same as owning a gun for personal defense reasons: you probably won't need it, but if you do you can't afford not to have it.

America is one of the last remaining countries where people aren't necessary living on top of one another. People sometimes own hundreds of acres of land, full of wildlife to hunt in order to feed themselves traditionally. And even if you don't personally own land, there's enough land to where people can pay to go on a weekend hunting retreat only a couple hours a way (or less) from where they reside.

It's also one of our rights to defend ourselves. Living way out in "the middle of nowhere" or in a very small town, police can literally be an hour or more away. It's up to you to defend yourself. In some less fortunate cities, police can take up to 30 minutes to arrive in even dire emergency situations. And even in cities with great police response time, 5 or 10 minutes can be life and death.

We have 911 now. You just call and police instantly appear to neutralize the person who just broke into your house.

Is this a joke or...?

Cops take 10 minutes to a couple hours to show up depending on where you live, and when they get there they still have to figure out whose side they're on. Often they'll wait it out so as not to risk their lives and then file a report and attempt to arrest your murderer.

Yes it was a joke. I stated my thoughts on the previous page. I thought the "instantly" would give it away. But I'm sure there's some people out there unfamiliar with reality that believe calling 911 is an immediate alleviation of danger.

So I did some research on these common "You're more likely" articles and they come from the same source. The Violence Policy Center which gets its source from the FBI justifiable homicide statistics.

Apparently justifiable homicides are underreported but the some of the reasons for underreporting can be applied to accidental gun deaths.

That's the fault of the shooter.

One is supposed to ID their target or at the least see if they're a real threat or not.
