Pathetic poor ghetto people doing the cleaning at night in our office are eating everything they see. You can't leave chocolate on your desk without finding crumbs on your chair and missing pieces. But they also go through drawers apparently and steal food in those.

How can I get back to them in the harshest but legal manner?

It is an issue. Just because it's food doesn't make stealing okay. I personally think he should talk with management and try to get the offenders from the cleaning company fired instead of adding something to the food, but stealing is not okay and scumbag thieves need to be dealt with one way or another.

Probably wont work though... My companys office has 3 laptops, multiple laser toner cartridges, bubble wrap, and postage from our electronic meter stolen in the last year. Now we just keep everything locked up. The property managers wont replace the cleaning crew :(.

How about leaving a typed note saying "please stop taking or food, if you don't we will report you to your manager"? Then they have fair warning right.

I think firing somebody for eating food is really harsh.

The problems started the day after the old cleaning company guy retired. Im addition, everyone in the company still has access to all of the same stuff without it being taken since being locked up.

Because to me seeking out food to steal is a sign of desperation. I'd rather investigate and find the culprits circumstances before choosing to give them a warning (at most). Cutting off somebodies income over this is not right, it is a minor mistake and does not necessarily mean the person is untrustworthy.

That's between them and the company they work for. Their personal circumstances are not relevant to the people getting stolen from, and at the very least I would expect to not see that individual in my office again.

Put the chocolate under your balls, then leave it out

Film yourself doing it, then confront them w that footage and the footage on the security camera of them eating it

Then inquire how it feels to have free ball sweat chocolate AND be a ghetto janitor?

So if I grab a banana while grocery shopping, eat it, and toss out the peel without paying for it; I shouldn't go to jail or get banned from that grocery because it was a minor offense that doesn't fit the crime. I should just get a warning at most.

Is that what some of you guys are saying? It's just one 40 cent banana after all.

Loving this and the balls sweat suggestion. I wonder if I can actually get in trouble for capsaicin though

And to whoever asked how I know it's them, I'm the last to leave in the evening.
And my coworker also has had his Lindor stolen from his drawers.

I'm aware my reaction is petty, I don't care. You don't steal stuff bought with my easy earned money from me with your grubby little poor person hands and go unpunished.
