The Biggoron sword does double the Master Sword's damage and has more range. The tradeoff is you can't use a shield when wielding it, but I've never cared about that.

the shadow temple is so weird compared to the others - it's short, it's brutal, and it doesn't really involve backtracking

Shadow was probably my least favorite as a kid, but it's climbed the ranks since then. I enjoyed it more than Forest and Fire last time I played. There's some disturbing stuff in there that doesn't seem so bad at a glance because OoT doesn't have any blood and gore.

Those dungeons probably pack more of a punch than any dungeons in later Zeldas...

I'm not 100% sure which is my favorite Zelda between Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. I typically go with the latter because 1) I've played it more recently, 2) I've had two playthroughs of the game where I felt absolutely elated at times vs. one playthrough of Ocarina where I felt the game was a bit of a letdown (the other two I enjoyed the game a ton), 3) to go with the less popular pick, and 4) because Wind Waker has aged quite a bit better.

Hell yeah Shadow Temple. I loved the fucking out of nowhere boat ride! Such a great dungeon. Feels like a massive underground cave moreso than a traditional dungeon dungeon.

I think next time I play (probably tomorrow or Sunday), I am going to keep going until I beat the game. Unless Ganon's Castle is a gigantic dungeon or something.

Spirit Temple is wonderful so far.

I know I'm a Zelda novice, but I seriously do not understand how some of the previous dungeons were expected to be completed without looking at a guide. A few of the puzzles were just so abstract and gave you zero clues. But this one finally hits the perfect balance of challenge and intuition. Also the ambience is top notch.

I could see Forest being more impactful if I played this game as a kid and it was the first time I ever really bore witness to a sprawling 3D dungeon.

Things I loved about the Spirit Temple:

- That music
- The only dungeon that requires Child and Adult Link to get through
- Light puzzles
- Iron Knuckles
- The boss
- Skipping the annoying "moving wall" segment by hookshot-ing straight to the top
- Nabooru clearly insinuating she wants to fuck Link (a theme that's GREATLY expanded on in BotW)

I don't have strong opinions on OoT dungeon rankings except that Forest is the best and Water is the worst. Forest absolutely nails the atmosphere and it works really well as the first Adult Link dungeon by being a notch darker/creepier than anything that came before it. Water is just obnoxious and tedious.

Dark Link is cool, but to me the rest of the dungeon is a wash. It still has a decent atmosphere though.

Yeah, Nintendo played it safe before anyone made a stink. I think they also removed/altered some symbols in the game for resembling the Islamic crescent moon.

Forest nails it with the atmosphere and boss fight, but I don't much care for the actual dungeon gameplay. Poes are probably my least favorite enemy to fight because you're forced to just stand there and wait for them, and that temple has three traditional Poe fights IIRC (the fourth is unique and cooler). It also might have the most block pushing, but I could be wrong on that because several of the dungeons have quite a bit.

Water Temple nails atmosphere as well (IMO every Adult Link temple does, especially if we count the original Fire Temple), and the gameplay never bothered me much because I loved its sense of methodical progress. That and Dark Link is arguably the best enemy in the game. My first fight against him is one of the most vivid memories I have as a young gamer.
