makes it far easier for hackers to screw up your life if everything is attached to digital media and you never leave your house to do anything because the internet can do it now!

also people constantly say an all digital future would be great for them since they would save loads of space

but what would they use that empty space for now?

I've never been on the side of an all digital future. I do think it's coming, though. Or a mostly digital future...

Look at ghost in the shell. Its going to get so bad. Already our realities are being distorted by companies skimming and selling data on us and feeding back what they want us to think we want to see.

Hackers are already screwing up people's lives. Some of that stuff is scary but the reality is that a lot of people are just dumb and overshare and follow poor security practices. This should get better with time as generations get more and more tech-savvy (though granted, the attacks advance as well).

All digital in terms of entertainment media is okay to me. I like some physical media and especially the idea of knowing I own it, but I think it's something society will eventually get over as future generations grow up with digital as the norm. Stuff like medical and financial records certainly has more nefarious potential, but I don't know, those have already been in use for a while so it's silly to act like it's this dystopian future thing.

Uh, anything? Including nothing. Just because you have space doesn't mean you have to or want to eat up every inch of it. Also it's not just about space. It makes moving easier, requires less material to produce, doesn't have a chance of ending up in a landfill, etc.

While I do like the idea of having less, and making it easier to produce records just by scanning an ID, for example, I do like having physical for a lot of things, too. That's pretty much my reasoning. But as long as we have both, it shouldn't be an issue. Having a physical copy can help even if something goes wrong with the digital copy. Also, while lots of medical records are digital, they usually have a physical, too. That's probably why it can be harder to mess with records like that. even the Air Force(who is trying to go paperless), still uses massive amount of paper for records. Haha.

But I do agree that an all digital future could potentially make a lot of things easier. For many, many reasons. It's just not as appealing to me yet...

You assume everyone has the space to spare. Overcrowding and increasing housing prices are resulting in people living in much smaller apartments than you might be used to. Such as the so called Coffin Apartments in Asia (and likely to start appearing in the US soon enough).

I rather be dead in a real coffin instead of living in a coffin apartment...

As for the room, I think most rooms are filled with a lot of stuff that makes the room feel alive. It's not just CDs, DVDs, and games. They do have a bunch of stuff like NMB said. Also, I've lived in rooms that were mostly devoid of stuff, and it is kind of depressing sometimes...

IDK. I just wouldn't comfortable in an empty room. It would be like I didn't live there. My dogs may like it, though...

Nope. Coffin apartments just don't appeal to me. Haha. But I also have 2 dogs. And a lot of stuff. I guess i could see the appeal when you're low on space, have like almost nothing, live alone, and save on money(assuming it cheap). But I don't see it ever being something I'd be interested in living it. Though, I wouldn't mind seeing it on person to understand them a bit more.

to me if you live in an empty house then it's just a case of Your home simply exists so you can eat and sleep nothing else

you can't do anything else there....you might as well be dead in my opinion if all you do is eat sleep and go to work with nothing to keep you sane at home

And in those cases, a coffin apartment might be good for them. Again, that's assuming they're cheap(or at least cheaper...)

I still don't understand your argument. Furniture, appliances, TVs, etc. aren't going to be replaced digitally. The average person can probably fill at most two large shelves full of books/movies/games. Take away one or two shelves and it isn't really that big of a change to the space. Personally, most of my stuff like that spends most of its time in boxes, and I don't love looking at boxes anyway. I have plenty of other ways to make the room look less empty.

I mean I know you're completely clueless about everything but for once can you at least try to have a coherent thought?
