I think I'm going to go with Murder, She Wrote although the quality declined after the early years and I hated some of the casting changes. That said, it was great seeing John Astin (Gomez Addams) in a recurring role, especially since his final appearance was an episode where he turns out to be the murderer. It was a wicked swerve because he had been in so many episodes before that, unlike so many detective shows where the most recognizable name usually turns out to be the killer Worth noting that the first season of ITV's Poirot -- starring the absolutely superb David Suchet -- began in 1989 with 10 episodes showing in that year. Far-Queue posted... Columbo While Columbo is by far one of the all-time greats, it wasn't really an 80s detective show. The original run was in the 70s and only a few episodes -- which occurred after a decade-long hiatus -- released in the 80s.
