Board 8 > Is changing disks getting annoying for you guys too?

I just realised that it's kind of regularly affecting what games I play and when. Because I have some games saved on the ps4 and generally only change the disk that's in there if I finish the game, or if I want to play FIFA or something, any time I want to do it now becomes really cumbersome

Case in point - I've had Horizon sitting on the drive for a while, and am only starting it now instead of starting Jill's campaign in REmake HD (I finished Chris' a couple of days ago) because I know FIFA is in the machine and I can't be bothered swapping them

Anyone else like this?

Well yeah. The reason I made this topic was because this is weird

Like, it was fine for 20+ years, just a part of life, sure. But now I've seen the other side...I don't want to go back. It's like experiencing true level.

I hear ya. I think it's more annoying for me to have to store games/cases because I don't really have a dedicated spot for that anymore. I'll have Overwatch in the PS4 and everything else is digital and get so used to not having to switch disks... but I don't know that I would skip out on a game as a mental roadblock. I don't tend to switch around too many single player games at the same time.

Physical media is more likely for me to take the game seriously, and beat it/complete it

but it also creates more mental pressure and sometimes it's hard for me to motivate myself to deal with that pressure

Yeah, I'm usually only playing one game per console at a time, so I'm not switching discs around that frequently anyway.

it's not "leaving them in the wrong case" it's "creating a treasure hunt for future me as I have to follow the chain backwards to game case zero"

I only have one digital game on consoles (Mass Effect: Andromeda) and it's ruined me, man. I really miss when I was playing that and it was just starting up my console and pressing a button, now I'm back to pulling out game covers, pulling out the disc, putting it in the console and then putting everything back again!

Yeah definitely. I specifically wouldn't play certain games just because I would have to get the game out of the case, put the old game into its case, etc. It is way easier and less of a hassel to just click what I want and it immediately plays without me having to really move.

Also I don't like physical cases taking up space at all.

I avoid this by trying to only play one game at a time to completion before moving on. It's helped me make sure my backlog doesn't build up and motivates me to finish games.

The exception to this is sports games, which can get pretty annoying when you have to switch discs to end up playing something for 20 minutes. I still prefer it to digital though. I feel like I'm going to be the last person out there buying physical copies of games, no matter how convenient digital can be.

Sharing the console with eddv means if I'm already on the couch, controlller in hand, and I find out my game isn't in the system anymore I'm gonna watch netflix instead lol.

I almost never buy physical games anymore, and I've actually been getting games I own cheap on digital sales so i can get rid of the physical copies

It's especially annoying for the games you only play casually every now and then. I'd have so many more hours on stuff like Smash Bros or Theatrhythm if I had had the foresight to download them instead.

This is probably the last platform I own where the physical/digital split is 50/50. I haven't run into this problem because I grabbed three of those 3DS Game Cases from Club Nintendo, which are usually near me so frequently swapping hasn't been a choir.

It has been annoying since like 2007 when I started using Steam more and is the #1 reason I prefer to buy digital. Caring about what form of plastic your game is on is dumb as hell.

pushing a button just gives you that many minutes and there's an "Add :30" button but that's it

Not quite, but having Overwatch digital is definitely a huge perk. Almost feel like it'd be smart to have all your multiplayer games digital so you can play them at any time.

For real. With popcorn for example the difference between 2:00 (half the bag unpopped), 2:15 (perfect), and 2:30 (burnt to ashe) is ridiculous.
