I was more referring to news where a guy stands on a normal, sunny street to talk about general street crime statistics which could've been done in studio.

The dude didn't start with 12 million subscribers. He got there because YouTube recommends and promotes his videos, giving him more exposure, which leads to more subscribers, which leads to even more views. Some YouTubers I follow have commented that as soon as YouTube de-monetizes a video of theirs, it's dead in the water. It no longer gets recommend, it doesn't show up in peoples feeds, and they lose out on any of the additional exposure that that video would have gotten them.

YouTube absolutely has been proven to discriminate against videos based on content, encouraging vacuous garbage like Logan Paul and discouraging many channels that offer good solid content. Like swearing, being an atheist, having a viewpoint that doesn't agree with YouTube's agenda are all grounds for getting de-monetized. This encourages content to be as non substantive as possible to not offend YouTube's advertisers and get them de-monetized. Which leads to the YouTube scene we have going into 2018 where all the stuff that is popular has no substance or value. Essentially, they made their own bed.

Regardless, this shouldn't an issue of channel vs channel. YouTube should just promote what gets views (like they used to). If they're going to censor people it can't be as unabashedly bias as it is. Well, I guess it can be, but YouTube is starting to turn itself into MySpace.

It's not just the fact that he recorded it, but how he acted too. Going through the guy's pockets, cracking jokes & laughing.
