I enjoyed the first game but it just didn't have enough to do.

The battles in the second one (both regular and starfighter) feel really immersive but even with... I think 12 maps? it just felt really repetitive. And the map rotation sucked (I don't know if they fixed that).

Campaign's like the movies... really divisive...

My background: Loved the OT, only saw Phantom Menace from PT, and thought TFA was a very bad movie.

That being said... I actually thought the characters were more relatable than the ones in TFA. The story picks up at the end of Episode 6 so you get a little more backstory/insight into the Empire which is pretty awesome. The writing and events actually made sense.

It is kind of generic as far as gameplay goes, and it's short, so don't expect a 20+ hour Star Wars nerdgasm.

Hexenherz posted...
The story picks up at the end of Episode 6

Oh, I thought it spanned the whole saga. I take it that's just multiplayer maps and characters from the whole saga instead?

Campaign is mediocre. Gameplay-wise its fun; the writing itself is clunky and dull.

Multiplayer is where its at. Starfighter Assault is an absolute blast.

I p much exclusively play Starfighter Assault. Could use more maps or at least more objective sets per map, though. <_<

It's fun.

However some of the Career objectives are total bullshit, at least with their rewards. "Oh here's 25 crafting parts for doing this objective in a Hero Ship. It'll take you several hours or more of gameplay but lol sense of pride and accomplishment"

Which honestly even with the microtransactions being disabled (for now at least), the markings of game design meant to encourage you to spend money is still blatantly obvious. <_<

I just wish there was a non-crafting parts way to upgrade your star cards. Something a bit more tied directly to your progress in game/matches. Because right now the only way to reliably get crafting parts is through crates, and you get crates through credits that you get from matches. But I've never really seen a direct link between how well you do in a match to how many credits you get from said match.

Like, one time I topped the scoreboard, had over 12,000 score and got like 1,500 credits. Then in another match i got over 10,000 score but only got like 500 credits. then one time i somehow hopped into the very end of a match and got 450 credits as like a participation trophy. it's weird.

Game is only a lag fest with shit internet

As stated above, even with a lack of micro transactions you can feel how much the game wouldve depended on it

Story was meh and predictable

Overall the gameplay is fun and improves over BF1 in every way.

Customization is lacking, if thats your thing

8.5/10 without microtransactions
7/10 with micro transactions

And honestly I wouldn't mind the microtransactions if it was a straight purchase system. Like I give EA $5 to buy like 500 crafting parts

I never played the original and I bought it on steam like a week ago for like $9.99, it's really awesome actually. I'm having a lot of fun with it

If you're a big star wars fan, I'd say get it now

But if you are a more casual star wars fan or don't have a particular love or care then you can wait til it's down to like $20 or cheaper
