I have like seven 4* commons I'm okay on overdrives!

Does the jp site say anything about what kind of quests? Like voiced story building quests or just standard whatever quests? The picture doesn't show a giant group of 10 characters huddled together like the blade side quests, so I'm guessing the latter.

Pretty sure its just regular quests. New blades stuff is supposed to be later.

Well I mean it could still be story-related-ish quests to build the world up a bit more. Or maybe quests to give the story Blades some extra screen time. Roc and Aegeaon in particular would be appreciated, since they might as well be randoms once you actually acquire them.

I'm not sure if there are any details about what the quests are other than what chapter they can be started in.

I think I have like 30 4* Blades. I've actually released quite a few of them because I didn't think I would ever get around to raising them. >_> They actually aren't all that rare when you have a perfect set up. I ended up getting one 4* Blade every 6 Legendary Cores on average. When you use 100+ Cores, that's quite a few 4*s.

so I'm an idiot and essentially wasted two overdrives

i originally thought I wanted to use 5th instead of 4th in my party so i could have two full atk members. but 5th's smash animation is stupidity long.

perun was originally on 4th but i moved her to 5th. now i decided i want to keep 4th in my party after all and used another overdrive to get perun back on 4th lol

I almost never use 4th! But I've been vastly overleveled for half the game so just having a healer and two attackers is honestly good enough. Though I've been using Tora over Nia too, lately.

then again maybe I'm more sensitive to spoilers since having a kid has dramatically reduced my ability to binge games or watch movies as they release

Yeah, it's not like this is a massive game with a ton of sidequests that people might spend a lot of time doing instead of continuining the plot.

oh good the guy you fight for the Merc Level 5 quest is on a high, narrow ledge and inflicts blowdown

After a few tries I remembered that blowdown can be sealed so it was doable, but man I really can't decide if they intentionally made some areas incredibly difficult to fight in or just didn't test things at all

I knew Indol becomes inaccessible, but I had always assumed Torna was going to attack and destroy it or something. Wasn't expecting it to basically turn into another titan warship, lol. And then damn, Mor Ardain and Uraya joining the fight too.

And just a couple hours later they release a patch allowing you to hit A or B to skip merc mission/pouch item dialogue.

Now maybe next month they'll actually let you skip the entire core crystal opening sequence...

For those interested Xenoblade 2 got into the top 20 games in the NPDs for December, with an estimated 280k sold in the US. This is the best result in the series by a good margin.

So is there any 'ideal' blade setup for each party member? I'm kind of rotating who uses who to raise affinity, but for UMs and bosses and stuff what's best?

I'm using Dromarch, Nim and Vess on Nia right now, though I just got Boreas this morning, and have Kora and Adenine as well for HLR blades.

For 4th I'm using 4th's default blade, Perceval and Finch, but I also have Newt, Godfrey and Kasandra available at tanks.

Note that this is just one guy's opinion, but I haven't seen too much backlash towards it.

The one thing that looks off at first glance is that most of the ether cannon Blades are listed with Nia as the optimal Driver. But this is just if you plan to have her in the attack role. Otherwise 5th is a good choice for those.

40% party heal every time you blade switch Ursula into the party

Beary is pretty cool. Though I'm a little disappointed that he was ignored in Ursula's story quests. Maybe the quests were written before these characters were fully designed.
