Well it has probably received more discussion than it deserves. I do agree with that much. Not really the topic's fault, though-- mainstream media is giving it a ton of attention too.

Liberal outlets have yes,

just went to your favorite site for political news: fox news.

literally a story on the front page: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/12/12/roy-moores-wife-defends-against-anti-semitic-claims-one-our-attorneys-is-jew.html

whoops

First of all, I go to CNN and Fox News equally. Second of all, right now Fox's main story is on McCabe and not a single Moore story is on their front page. CNN's first Nine articles is in some way related to Moore.

I am watching the unsubstantiated claim that Keaton, the 12 year old, was bullied and beat up because he used the N-word. When they are asked for proof of this, the response has been "Where's the proof that he was bullied at all?"

ZERO self awareness. Willing to believe every single sexual assault claim that can ruin careers and send people to jail, but WHERE'S THE PROOF that a 12 year old with a fucked up face wasn't bullied. Fuck outta here.

These people deserve to suffer through a Roy Moore victory, as terrible as he is.

My definition of front page is the main articles listed on the front of the mobile site. On CNN, this is before CNN breaks off into US World etc offshoot headlines (otherwise CNN's front page is like 300 headlines which no one counts as front page content). This is generally 4 to 5 major headlines with supporting articles.

ExTha, you do realize that the reason why Keaton Jones story got so many questions was because of the controversy surrounding the gofund me page and the MMA fighter's conversation with an instagram account that was either posing as or actually was his mother, right? People didn't just go "OMG you're lying," fucking 99.9% of people were like "this was heartbreaking." Then a gofund me pops up immediately after the video goes vira and a conversation between Joe Schilling and "Kimberly Jones" involves phrases like "he might have been using the n-word" and "us whites need to stick together" gets put out.

So yeah, the waters got muddied almost immediately after the video came out.

I simply framed a question. I said something along the lines of "you guys sure seem to care a lot about this Alabama election" or something.

I was retorted with how much you should care.

All I did was ask if you were from Alabama or not.

This is the exchange. And, look at the response. That was all from yinz as I didn't even respond again in that topic after that I believe. (Nor did I read the end so I don't even know what yinz responded).

This only picked back up after someone tried to put words into my mouth and misrepresent what I said in this topic.

I mean, there is not a real harping on the issue. I merely framed the question that you guys, as you just said yinz might be doing, may be going overboard on the topic.

Okay so Rock's response makes me think I read it wrong.

It's still gonna be an uphill climb in 2018. Think of all that's come out against Roy this month and you'll see that the election wasn't expected to be close before we found out shit like Roy was banned from a mall. Virginia's encouraging, but also after Charlottesville that makes a lot of sense for that state to flip. Oklahoma's done some flipping so that's encouraging too...just skeptical.

It'd be an important trend to see if Jones can win here, but I'm wary for now.

I mean, Bannon is gonna push for more Moore-style Republican candidates in primaries, and there's a very real chance they manage to pull off primary victories and go on to general elections.

The only reason Moore is still even in this race is because it's Alabama. Swap a deeply red state with a slightly red state and Moore loses without question. All of a sudden more seats than expected become vulnerable in the Senate and the House becomes realistically flippable.

Nah, they want a Moore win because they can, at worse, have him pushed out via ethic violations and just have another special election with a less terrible candidate (I hear Luther Strange won't be too busy).

Outright losing the seat means Alabama is gone until 2021, and that's huge for them.

A heavily GOP seat ended up being super closely contested thanks to record low turnout. By contrast, the Georgia 6th special election ended up with relatively high voter turnout and they won that seat rather handily (when it was a toss-up a week before the election).

"You guys care an awful lot about the Alabama senate race" very clown

People should care about every senate race. The more contentious ones especially. The controversial ones doubly especially.

What about it? You should have some minor care about it sure.

It is very easy to compare the "care" between this race and every other race.

And to act like you should care as much as a person from Alabama is a straight lack of common Sense across the board.

They do not vote in the Alabama race. The Alabama Senator does not represent them. They are not his constituents. An Alabama Senator is charged with primarily looking out for his state and trying to do what he thinks is best for his state.

Anyone saying the Alabama race is as important to them as an Alabama person is lacking common sense and just saying nonsense.

This is just them doing as Ulti says in playing "Team Blue".

There has been like 33 Senate Elections this past year. The care for those races boiled down to which one they thought they could win for their team. Little to do with positions, background of candidates, or otherwise. This is simply no different.

The fact is the singular Alabama Senator spot is less than half a % of the process in making decisions in this country. It has no real significance over than an Alaska Senator spot. A Maine one. A California one. Etc. Which we can see just by before that all was cared about was if a seat was one for their party and not on background, political spots, or so on.

Yes. The care of going on and on about it nonstop for what almost a month is a "You guys care a whole lot yadda yadda". And acting like their care should be equivalent to someone who lives in Alabama is illogical. It would be tantamount to someone living in Yemen saying they care as much about the Russian election as a Russian does. Illogical.

I wonder how many of these people who even care even know what the Democrats stances are on positions. Hell, I don't even know the dude's name because I could care less. It is an Alabama Senate Race. I do not have a dog in the race. Who cares.

I sure as fuck didn't care who won Senate or House seats on election day besides hoping for a majority. I sure as fuck am not going to care more than that now.

Yes, this is what I said.

I will venture to go further that some people here are definitely even acting like they care more about this Alabama Senate Race than their own state's Senate races.

My comment is clearly based on how overboard they are going on the subject. It is getting to Trump-Clinton levels.

I normally think of higher voter turn-out as good for Democrats, and that's also coupled by the likelihood of Roy-fans being energized fot Roy VS Jones-fans being energized for Jones

That said, Alabama's a red-ass state...hard to bet against higher turn-outs helping Republicans in that way.

I dunno man. This election's out of reasonable expectations.
