These companies are as shiftless as politicians when it comes to currying favour amongst the masses. That said, I support their endeavour to make single player games. I don't support their paid mods, or them trying to upset the apple cart that got them there in the first place. Would Morrowind have even been that popular if it wasn't so mod friendly? Bethesda encouraged this, and now they want in on it by making it more difficult for modders to modify their games.

Just like with all things, having varying levels of like and dislike for a thing isn't bad. Bethesda has done some bullshit, and have been rightfully called out on it. They aren't as bad as the others, so they still have a tentative moral high ground when it comes to shit slinging. We don't have to hate every company to its core, just because they did an anti-consumerist thing; it just means that you need to be more aware of the product you're buying. I don't hate Bethesda, but I hate some of their practices and game designs. I dislike Ubisoft. I hate Warner Bros. I _loathe_ Activision-Blizzard and EA.

I really like Atlus, though I hate their approach to DLC. You mean you want me to spend what amounts to the full price of another game, just to get all of the costumes in Persona 5? Fuck off.

Oh yes, the paid mods and Creation Club are garbage. It's purposely designed to be limited in scope, but ultimately it was built for console users, not PC. Sure, they released it on PC and forced a download where you downloaded all the current CC mods at the same time, essentially turning their service into on-drive DLC, which is bullshit.

This isn't directly a knock at EA. You could easily also apply it to Activision, Ubisoft, and 2K, who have all turned every game into something involving multiplayer and microtransactions/lootboxes.

The past couple months has had people talking about the death of single player games and this is in response to it. Bethesda is staying true to gamers and they're losing money for it.
