Well, graphical adventure games more generally really. I guess visual novels would count there, too.

I used to really like these games, like the neverhood and the monkey island series, but I haven't played a new one in years and I'm sure there are plenty of older ones I haven't played too.

Phantasmagoria 1,2
Torin's Passage

I'm prob missing some more.

The Longest Journey is also one of the best ones.

I've always loved the Nancy Drew games half to death.

I wish they'd come out with the next one already. But switching to a whole new and more powerful engine causes delay.

...I can never remember if they were moving to Unreal or Unity.

That's my personal favorite. Gets a little illogical near the end with how you're supposed to advance, but dang that game's good.

No love for beneath a steel sky? That one is pretty excellent, and it's free off GOG.

IIRC Space Quest V is pretty good, but I sometimes get them confused. The one where you start off as captain of your own ship anyway.

The Chzo mythose series of games by Yahtzee Croshaw (yes him) can be fun if you like a bit of a horror bent, especially Trilby's Notes. I'd recommend playing them all though, as there's a running narrative throughout the four games.

I have no mouth, and I must scream

I have no mouth and I must eat is very good, but unforgiving. It's easy to dead-end yourself without ever realising it and the game will happily let you continue on for another hour or so before telling you that you fucked up.

Also it is one of the most depressing and horrifying things you'll encounter. Just fair warning.

Warning me or TC? I've beaten it multiple times.

And yeah, the dead ending sucks. Especially with the doctor at the Nazi camp. Use an item in the wrong order and you're screwed.

But the story itself is fantastic and one of the only games I'd truly call mature.

Warning TC, as it can be brutal to newcomers.

Also, it's one of the very few games that I would call a genuine horror game. Some of the subject matter covered in the game still makes my skin crawl thinking about it.

This is how they used to be, especially the Sierra games.
Forgot to pick up something that you dont know even existed in the first screen you see which you cant return to which is needed to solve the last puzzle in the game? Start over.
People were actually angry when LucasArts started to make it impossible to forever miss key items, whining that simplifying it for the masses would ruin the whole genre.
Anyway, dont play the German version of I Have No Mouth, they removed the Nazi camp part but forgot to tell the game to actually skip it, so it is impossible to complete the game.

Point and Click games are my absolute favourite genre of all time. There are a lot of good mentions on here but if I had to recommend a few that you would enjoy if you started them right now:

1) Curse of Monkey Island. I consider this to be the finest PnC game ever made. It is the pinnacle of the Monkey Island series, and considering how good 1 and 2 were, that is saying a lot. The character of Murray the talking skull is worth the effort on it's own.

2) Tales from the Borderlands. I know that the Telltale games get a bit of a bad rap these days, but I enjoyed this from start to finish, and while it isn't nearly as difficult as the old style games, it is just so damn good. The soundtrack, the acting, the story, all fantastic.

3) Samorost 3. Beautiful and unique little game that is just so stylish.

Anything by Sierra.

I liked Torins Passage. The world is an interesting concept. Game has a great mix of puzzle types, humor, and colorful characters.

wish i still had patience for adventure games.

most of them move so slowly at a snail's pace and when you skip, you end up skipping entire scenes instead of just moving towards the next piece of dialogue.

http://thejourneymanproject.com/store/

Expensive when you include shipping but it's a pretty high quality mug, actually. 11 oz, so could be bigger but not bad. The mug itself is black and printed on, unlike some licensed mugs which are a printed background color on a white mug thst looks terrible. Should be dishwasher safe (but I handwash mine since I keep it at work). And best part is it has the TSA logo on it, which even if you've never played the game you gotta admit looks pretty sick.
