they've gotten really garbage in the past few years

Applebees - restaurant prices for microwaved TV dinners
Subway - they literally got caught using the same material used to make yoga mats as a filling for their bread
Smashburger - nothing but negative experiences. They once put avocado on my burger so far from being ripe that I literally couldnt bite through any of it. Im not even sure how they sliced it.
Gordon Biersch - went there once and waited far too long for a plate of cold food
Jack in the Box - food made from recycled diapers
McDonalds - I only like their plain hamburgers
Chipotle - used to like them but the quality has really plummeted imo
Dennys - Some things are ok but most of the menu is gross. I tend to have stomach problems if I eat there.
Qdoba - I dont know if this one still exists but it is basically just a chipotle but worse in every way.

My least-favorite restaurants, in no particular order:

Sonic - their signature coney dogs are a disappointment at my location. Rest of their hot food (burgers breakfast sandwiches, etc. are average. But I do enjoy their ice-cream.

McDonald's - I don't exactly hate its food (except for the chicken nuggets) but it just falls short compared to other fast-food chains.

CJ's (local) - just generally simple, uninspired food lacking flavor, restaurant decor very outdated.

Guadalajara - big portions but food is overly greasy and lacking flavor.

Harper and Madison (local) - a trendy hipster dive. Food I've gotten there was unimpressive for its price.

Red Lobster.

Applebees has literally the worst menu out of any place I've ever eaten. I have no idea how it remains open as a chain restaurant.

And any restaurant where you eat at what is basically a fancy cafeteria table can go right to hell. I'd rather eat my food alone in the bathroom than be seated right next to an obnoxious stranger I want nothing to do with. I'm an adult, I don't want to go back to cafeteria eating.

Humans have been baking bread forever. We have never needed azodicarbonamide before. I would prefer my food to be free of synthetic, unnecessary ingredients. Clearly, the general populace agrees with me regarding subways bread.

I excrete urea, I don't want to drink it. I would also prefer to not consume biurea as well.

I know my main complaint with them is the price, but I don't consider that a reason to hate them. You are basically just paying for the convenience. Plus compared to some steak houses they aren't that bad.

I guess people complain that it isn't "authentic" Australian cuisine but really what is? Kangaroo soup? Good luck selling that to people in the states.

Panda Express and Subway are the worst for me. I hate Panda's food worse, but might hate Subway more overall because it's so ubiquitous that sometimes you can't avoid it (like on road trips where that's the only quick restaurant where you've stopped).

McDonald's, BK and Wendy's generally suck, but I've accepted that those are just bottom-tier fast food that got left behind with the rise of the fast casual model, so they don't seem worth hating.

Sonic's food sucks but I don't hate them because at least the drinks are good.

I don't hate Chipotle, but I don't eat there anymore after they had another foodborne illness scandal. I don't hate Smashburger, but I've been unimpressed with their speed and portion size lately, so I tend to avoid them now.

I haven't eaten at Applebee's for like fifteen years, so I don't know if I hate them, but they sound bad and I have no desire to go there.

really just mcdonalds. i do not eat there and i havent since 2013.

they just have low quality shitty food and dont deserve my money

maybe Wendys sucks in Canada or something but Im always super impressed with their burgers when I go. Their biggest problem isnt that theyre dry, theyre honestly too greasy sometimes.

Nobody goes to Denny's because it's good, they go because it's open 24 hours. Village Inn and IHOP are pretty shitty too. But breakfast food is kind of hard to screw up so even mediocre breakfast food is still good

Most fast food burger places, to be honest.

McDonald's gets a pass because their coffee is actually good. It's even better than Tim Horton's. Dairy Queen also gets a pass because, holy shit, their ice cream cakes. Dairy Queen makes the absolute worst burgers, though.

The preservative you're talking about is used in food across the country. The only reason people know the subway story is because of some random movement that gained momentum. The preservative is in almost every bread product at the store near my house. And a large variety of food additives have very disturbing unknown facts and health risks. Do some reading about MSG and HFCS.
