Rogers' mother filed a letter with North Carolina's US District Court saying that Epic "has no capability of proving any form of modification" because her son merely installed cheats he downloaded from Addicted Cheats, versus altering the game's source code himself.

I like how cheating is just altering the source code.
You can do literally anything else as long as you don't mess with the code, that's clearly how that works :/

I know she's throwing out arguments against Epic and seeing what sticks, but I don't understand this one. If the game was $60 to play, they would have already gotten their money out of the kid. would see her point; they get $60 whether the kid cheated or not. However, this is free-to-play, which means they're only getting money on microtransactions. The players aren't going to want to keep coming back and buying in-game items when the game is full of cheaters. The health and stability of the game is the potential for profit. One person cheating does cause loss of profits from other potential buyers, but I suppose proving a specific amount would be difficult.

This, along with the fact that the gaming juggernaut is suing a 14 year-old, strongly suggests that Epic had no idea who it was suing.

That would actually make a lot of sense, although it's the kind of due diligence lawyers should be doing.

ah but Activision has a patent where they match-make people who haven't bought loot boxes against people who have better weapons, in order to incite players to buy lootboxes. So you could argue that this cheating kid is making players want to buy boxes so they can get better.

Boring af. Like you said what's the point. Have fun with your hiding simulator. It's a lot more fun if you seek fights. You will also get better at the game that way. Instead of doing nothing and being like "woo... Got too 10 haHAA"

Yeah, over 10 times.
Also he would make YouTube videos explaining how to cheat, showing the websites, and showing how to install the game as well as videos of him cheating.
