After a long pause, Alabama Bibb County Republican chairman Jerry Pow tells me he'd vote for Roy Moore even if Moore did commit a sex crime against a girl.

"I would vote for Judge Moore because I wouldn't want to vote for Doug," he says. "I'm not saying I support what he did."

Roy Moore was a total scumbag sleaze before the Pedophilia Charges come out. So it's not surprising to see people defending him. As long as he's got the Magic R next to his name.

Principles? Conservatives don't have them.

I don't get why anyone can't just come out and say "I can't support our nominee, but I also can't support a Democrat so I'll be writing in a vote."

Hell, we'd never know and you'd look like less of a jackass!

Correct. Even before this story came out, Moore wasn't qualified for City Council, let alone US Senate

That'd be me. Trump is successfully hedging his bets. Moore wins? "Another great win for America." Moore loses? "I was right about Strange."

He really doesn't give a shit about losing a Senate seat, he just wants whatever can make him look good.

Because that isn't putting one's party over country, morals, or humanity. Therefore, it's taboo. When these allegations come out against democrats, they're immediately disowned by the left. Against the right? They stand with them. The modern conservative has morals of a flooded septic tank.

HANNITY: How do you possibly tell, know the truth, except -- okay, so, the two other girls were older in this case. He was apparently, like, 32, and he dated -- one girl was 18, one girl was 17, they never said he did -- there was no sexual -- there was kissing involved, and then they're saying this one encounter with a 14 year old --

MCLAUGHLIN: And it was consensual --

HANNITY: And consensual, that's true. And there's, you know -- I just -- I don't know how you find out the truth.

My perception on conservatives has probably been colored due to the fact that I've never met one that didn't tow the party line at all costs.

My two cents: moreso than any Trump, or McConnel, or really anything else, FOX News is the most damaging political force in the country. So many people only get their news from it, and it literally (and I mean that in the true sense of the word, not the exaggerated sense) creates an alternate reality for people to live in. Like..when every single other news source is covering a GOP political scandal while FOX headlines an emoji burger storyline, something is fucked up.

Well, probably most conservatives who don't tow the party line, you don't actually know are conservatives. Like my conservative friends who voted Obama, not really super into talking politics. I mean, it will come up from time to time and that's why I know they're conservatives, but yeah, not a lot of fervor.

I think the problem is a lot of em are getting more vocal nowadays and the really vocal ones tend to be those types.

I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but there have been good number of recent polls conducted where conservatives were asked questions like "do you care if Russia influences the election" and almost half of the responses were "nah". Like you can justify it somewhat for various reasons but it's still insane. The blowback from conservatives if Hillary had been in that position would be astronomical.

The party line towers are definitely more vocal these days, but I also think a lot of more reasonable conservatives are joining that group as well. That's a natural result of the intense partisan climate we live in, but I don't think the liberal side of the coin is anywhere NEAR that bad. If a Democratic canditate was outed as creeping on 14-year old girls, he would be eviscerated by almost all liberals.

Thing about Trump is

I think conservatives across the board hated Hillary. Like, every conservative I've talked to, they're like "I bet you voted Hillary didn't you" and I'm like "nah bro I voted Gary Johnson" and they're like "oh okay that's fair"

I think Trump winning was more a symptom of just what a terrible opponent Hillary was than towing the line.
