Do you think these hooligans deserve life in prison?

These are the faces of the Five jerks who are charged with second degree murder in the death of a 32 y/o father in Michigan who was killed by a huge rock that was thrown from an overpass and smashed through the windshield of a van he was in!!

The teens are 15-17 years old and are charged as ADULTS. Prosecutor David Leyton said he will seek a second degree murder charge against them for the death of 32 y/o father, Kenneth White.

17 yo Kyle Anger and 15 year olds, Alexander Miller, Trevor Gray, Mikaydyn Payne and Mark Sekelsky were the kids responsible.

All 5 could face LIFE in prison for 2nd degree murder and are also charged with conspiracy to commit 2nd degree murder and malicious destruction of property

David said "i don't think this was a deliberate attempt to take somebody's life. It was a wilful and wanton act that resulted in somebody's death"

Kenneth was kileld when a 6lb rock smashed through his windshield after these teens through 20 rocks down from an overpass and one of them hit Kenneth's head where was knocked unconscious and later died in hospital.

Photos show the large rock and the damage done to the vehicle as several vehicles were in the path of these giant rocks falling from an overpass.

His, Amy Cagle was devastated who can't understand how anyone can danger people's lives and now her 4 children are left without a father and the love of her life was taken from her..

Do these 5 Hooligans deserve life in prison?.

Absolutely. Doesn't matter if they intended to kill or not. They were throwing stones from a overpass so someone was bound to be hurt and they are old enough to know better. I only wish more teens were charged as adults then perhaps they wouldn't think their untouchable.

yeah i'd have to agree with that as i've known grown ass adults who killed someone and didn't serve life got out and went on to be half way decent productive citizens. one guy the murder was unintentional but he was shitfaced drunk so not much excuse there, and the other admits he hunted the guy through 5 states to find and kill him. never would tell me what his motivation was though so i'm guessing it was pretty personal.

I don't have a save everyone mentality. these kids killed someone yeah so they deserve punishment, but it wasn't their intention so I don't think they should lose their life over it. conversely though I feel even a petty thief who keeps finding his way behind bars should be put down after so many times.

not saying they don't deserve some severe punishment, but they are at a age where they can learn from their mistake and perhaps not ever do anything like it again. to be quite honest though I don't even really care if they get life/death penalty I won't lose any sleep over it. just saying they could still prove to be productive law abiding citizens after serving some time.

They should not be charged as adults and absolutely no way should they get life in prison.

They should know better than to throw things over an overpass. I'm sure, individually, they do know that. But you get a group of adolescents together and peer groups influence behavior. Dumb shit like throwing rocks over the overpass happens.

This is manslaughter. that is why manslaughter exists. Specifically this is involuntary manslaughter

Murder requires murderous intent. Even drunk driving--something everyone knows is a lot more rangerous than dropping rocks--only gets you involuntary manslaughter when you kill someone.

Yeah, no. Any teen with a functioning brain knows that throwing rocks down from a height at people is dangerous (and for that matter realize that the "cars" they're throwing the rocks at have people in them). It doesn't fucking matter if they intended to kill people or just grievously injury them, they were throwing weapons quite capable of being lethal intentionally at people. Fucking convict them on murder, cause that's what this is.

if you shoot it in the air and the bullet lands and kills someone you would be charged with involuntary manslaughter at worst.

It's not saying the act was smart. or safe. just that it was not an act done to intentionally murder, and not legally the same as murder.

Because murder is generally defined in law as an intent to cause serious harm or injury (alone or with others), combined with a death arising from that intention, there are certain circumstances where a death will be treated as murder even if the defendant did not wish to kill the actual victim.

the way that kind of death is classified is unintentional manslaughter (sometimes referred to as fourth degree murder which is why it is on the page about murder in the U.S.)

when people talk about murder this is not what they mean. they mean first and second degree, sometimes third.

intent to do harm without direct intent to kill = involuntary manslaughter

Yes; whatever it is that has been decided by the court, I'll agree.

I don't think they should get life in prison as in the end, they are still children. They still have the rest of their lives to straighten themselves out and be productive citizens.

What happened to that man is poignantly tragic but life doesn't end there. Both victim and defendants are affected in this. And as easy it is to cry out to spill blood, we must rise above that and give them punishment that befits their crime and their personal circumstances.

A father and fianc died; don't add another five to that.

However, they definitely should serve jail time though.

I hope they do penance for this as this is a scar that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

What they did was horrible and they definitely should've known better, but life in prison is a bit too much. The fact that some people are actually suggesting the death penalty is just sickening.

They killed a guy doing something no sane person would even consider, that is sickening. They're fucked in the head, we're better off cutting them from the gene pool.
