you "can" tech by running geist but it's not really a viable strategy. the card is beyond garbage in every single match up besides jade druid. it's bad in jade druid if you don't draw it early enough. and there are so few jade druids on ladder right now that it's not worth it to run the card because it will maybe help you win 1 in 50 games.

it's just annoying that the alternative is to AUTOMATICALLY LOSE 1 in 50 games with a 0% chance of winning because one single card is powerful enough to beat your entire deck (if you're playing control, especially fatigue)

Then find a win condition that isn't fatigue. Even fatigue decks should either have other ways to win or ways to handle their opponents' threats to fatiguing them.

My pet deck is jade rogue. It basically always loses to big priest. Every single damn time, unless I get off to an extremely fast start. Barnes always lands on 4. Always. And it basically doesn't matter which card they got out, because having to clear it for 3 straight turns afterwards was not something I could manage.

So I added Sap. I didn't really want a Sap in the deck. Most of the time, it's a pretty bad card because I'm not playing for tempo, but if I'm against priest, I hard mulligan for it and ensure that his huge cards don't have any impact on the board before turn 8 or 9. I don't even care that doing so limits my potential a little against Razakus or other priest decks, because big priest is outright unwinnable if I have to fight through 3 consecutive Obsidian Statues.

Not arguing with you there. Jade druid is a race to beat them before you hit the endgame. That used to be a matter of defeating their auctioneer. Contemporary decks are much faster and/or much more defensive, which makes breaking through them with anything other than a true aggro deck almost impossible.

yeah, I know. I was willing to lose these matches and improve my overall winrate in all other matches which are way more common since I only face like 1 in 20 jade druids.

my complaint is not "jade idol is ruining the meta" or "jade idol is making my deck completely unplayable." my complaint is that it's a terribly designed card that ruins the fun of the 1 in 20 games when it is played.

it is truly one of the stupidest design decisions I've ever seen in hearthstone. they actually introduced a card that single handedly stifles the entire control archetype. luckily I don't really see jade druid that much anymore so it's no longer ruining the entire meta, but it's still frustrating that when you do see a jade druid you automatically lose now (unless you're running geist which will negatively impact your overall win rate for the sake of getting the mild satisfaction when you increase your odds against jade druid from 0% to 30%)

Rank 20/19 is a very weird place. I lost to an aggro Paladin on like turn 6 or something because he was only going face. He hit me twice with truesilver then buffed the 2/1 charge pirate to an 11/5 and played the 3/2 weapon.

Did someone play this deck in a tournament recently or something?

Quest Mage vs Regular? Mage, who was running Marin because he's a cool guy and all. After hitting the box with a Frostbolt I'm in firm freeze-bored-out-of-your-mind-nothing-is-happening control, as well as two rng Mirror Images to slow him down even more, so he has to resort to pinging the box off an on over the next seven or eight turns. When he finally gets it to 1 HP and hits it with that last glorious ping, all of that work he put in getting there paying off... his hand is full. No fizzy lifting drinks for him.

Ive seen Keleseth a total of three times in 50 games. I have had worse draw luck in every game but two. There was one game in 50 where RNG wasnt laughably one sided in the other direction; I burgled Polymorph and DK Jaina in that one, and still lost because my draws are perpetually useless. Ive faced 8 shamans, and all of them had both Maelstrom Portal in the first 7 cards. 23 of those 50 opponents played two Tar Creeper in the first 8 cards. In 27 of those games, I drew both Bonemare in my first 10 cards. I drew Patches first 6 times. All 7 priests I played put out Raza on turn 5 and Anduin on turn 8. The three warriors I played (no one plays this class apparently) all had two turns of throwing out a random minion, playing Brawl, and praying. I lost all 6 Brawls.

I dont just say skill is irrelevant for no reason. I have mathematical and video proof that it means literally nothing, on top of just constantly being far left on the luckbox bell curve. Everyone tells me my pull luck great, but I would trade it for gameplay luck any day. Pulling well means dick if you dont actually get to play, and in the VAST majority of my games I face better draw luck, RNG, and counterpicks all at the same time.

In other card games, you actually learn something when you lose. In Hearthstone, its nothing more than oh well the rng dicerolls went against me again. There is no skill or decisionmaking. Its literal 100% luck.

Like I'm fine with a card like Cabalist Tome because its slow, but not something like Primordial Glyph which even Kibler has said is probably too high on the power level for a discover card.

I dont know. Honestly it might not be good then because pulling a card from your deck is a lot better than a random one a lot of times. Sure you can get like an Ice Block (which could win you the game) but mage spell usefulness is pretty feast of famine. But I'm not sure if a card like glyph should have ever been a card meant for competitive play anyway.
