I'm first generation on my mom's side, my entire family on that branch except for two of my cousins and I were born in England, Northern Ireland, or Scotland over the past several hundred years. My dad was born in North America though, but his family are the Prussian equivalent to Vault 13 dwellers... Which is why I have some of the health problems I do. #inbreeding

My mom is obsessed with genealogy stuff and extremely nationalistic, and we have some branches traced back as far as the 1500s... She's regularly on about "blinkin' Germans," but she did one of those DNA test thingies and is nearly half German, which was poetic justice. Even a bunch of the surnames she researched on the family tree were originally German, but Anglicized over time, such as Brcke becoming Brooks. The denial is real... My god, the fun that was had at her expense over these revelations!

I did mine afterwards, and I'm about 3/4 German, which sort of confirms my mom's result as valid, given that I'd have gotten about 1/2 the German from my dad, who is about 95%, and the remaining 1/4 from her... The DNA is (obviously) half and half from each parent... Did anyone else here do one of these tests?

That aside, family generations *can* vary greatly depending on when parents have kids AND not all blacks came to this nation as slaves; some were even slave owners themselves.

Mom's side - I'm about fourth generation German. Mom remembers hearing her mother and grandmother conversing in fluent German, and she visited the old country at one point in her life.

Dad's side - Don't know for certain, probably ancestors came over during colonial or revolutionary times from Great Britain. In our genealogy research, my family name goes back about six generations - dated to the late 1700s.

Younger birthing ages had little correlation to race, since *all* groups typically had children at younger ages so your silly attempt to fill in the blanks with a ridiculous racist allegation is a little absurd. Secondly, I wasn't referring to Africans kidnapping and selling other Africans into bondage (because those blacks were *still* in Africa, not America), I meant the ones who BOUGHT slaves in the USA so they could have them tend their land. Nor was I claiming that all free blacks engaged in the practice, but keep on shitposting in the free world.

No, I pointed out that free blacks immigrated to the US as well and were so free that some wound up owning slaves themselves. It's certainly relevant when there's an implication that *all* blacks within that time period were slaves.

Can trace my family tree all the way back to the 16th century.
Dunno what you mean by first or second generation.
I'm not American though.

Never really looked into it.

My surname (or variant of it) is from Dorset.

All I know is that I'm a mix of Scotch, Irish and Cherokee.

My dads side is unknown.

His father vanished and infant brother died.

My mom side dates back to the early 1930s and are from Maryland.
