Maintenance is coming on the 28th, ability buffs are mentioned on it! Also the daily dungeons will be updating soon and there will be new (farmable) 4* Mote Dungeons at the end of December.

I also went back and did the Mom Bomb Cid Mission with Kain, Edge, Rydia, Fusoya and Rosa since it seems like people did it with less.(And I need the fire orbs as well) I went in better prepared and it actually was pretty easy. Fusoya took Curaga duty so that Rosa could use Magic Breakdown and wrath up her USB for magic blinks and HP stock to deal with the explosions, everyone was back row as well so I didn't get hit by Ultimate Explosion. I guess the reason I found it hard was because I was too used to one-healer-Cloud-USB-RW autopilot.

With my new goodies (plus legend diving Tidus and Paine) I got 28.19 on Liquid Flame - previous time was in the high 50s. Five down, three to go (with my current best time:

Hydra - 31.80
Golem - 36.10
Fenrir - 48.31

Hydra seems doable, I'm sure I could get it if I dive Rydia or Maria but I don't think I want to spend them on those characters.

still haven't tried Rubicante jumpstart. dispel and weakness-changing are the two things i despise most in a fight. wonder if i could just like, insta-wreck him now with Tidus (CSB, BSB2, LMR, mostly dived) and Squall (BSB2, USB, OSB, fully dived).

Rubicante dies really fast is you use Cloud RW on a strong water/Ice user, I killed him in three Snowspell strikes with Bartz I think, before he even closed his cape at least.

Having both Tidus and Squall with those relics is overkill.

Are there even any characters that are considered really bad these days?

It seems like the vast majority of characters get something that makes them fairly viable.

The cores obviously. Some like Angeal, Dark Knight Cecil, Cyan, Nine, Gau and Leila are considered lackluster or bad even with their relics. Fusoya is kind of a grey area since he still doesn't have at least a remotely recent soul break, at most a fossil super but he still has access to both 5 black/white magic (through so do Rubicante and Tellah and they actually have bursts) He'd probably be good through if they give him a USB or at least a burst since he has to accommodate for the powercreep.

Still that's good thing so many characters are viable or at least have something going for them, and that's pretty crazy considering how there's so many characters in the game already.

I finally Sub 30'd Sealion! I used bard motes on Tyro and had him use Ninja magic (since it caps so quickly anyway) and I've gotten more fire magicite from farming Fire Orbs on Liquid Flame. Still took a bit of luck with some doublecasts on Papalymo but I did it!



Thank goodness! I need the ice orbs bad. This will also be a lot easier when the ability buff comes out since Raines is capping chain Fiagra at 2x9999.

just finished the III torment. the 200 CM was kinda scary with no VoF and no medica on Arc, but Onion Knight's percentage-based medica was just enough with how quick Luneth BSB + Cloud USB can take him down. it was also enough to throw OK on my team for the 300 partial CM, though i only got 2/3, with a team of Luneth, Zack, Ramza, OK, Y'shtola. i really don't think i could swap out Y'shtola this time unless i had something for Arc or Aria. and i don't think i'd have enough damage without Ramza (i definitely wouldn't without Zack).

Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to the ability buff. That should make me way more consistent on Liquid Flame - I haven't managed a second sub-30 clear after the first one, but Tidus's Sapphire Shot and Paine's Engulfing Twinstrike are capping, so I should get some extra damage.

Took one more shot at the FF 10 banner. Got Paine's burst, and Tidus's LMR and BSB2. Those should be solid. Sad I missed his USB, but his LMR combined with the BSB2 should be solid.

Hm. Second Sapphire Shot. Seems like something I might be able to use on two people on the regular with Water Element teams, which is my element of choice. Not sure if I should scrap or not-- how many good 5* water element abilities are there really. Seems like the best choice for both Tidus and Rikku.

Lots of people can use Sharpshooter 5* these days, pretty much any character that can use ranged weapons (except Lion for some reason) It's definitely worth keeping two. Or you equip two of them on Tidus since you have his USB and just keep blasting away with the chases.

Did the Cid Mission on U++ Tidus, ironically killed him with my Tidus with his BSB2 and Cloud RW. Jecht was kinda dead weight even if I have his burst, would rather have brought Paine and used a water chain but eh, he was easy enough.

It was an S/L fest, but I finally did it. I got the sub-30 on Fenrir. That's all of them!
I'm still kinda surprised I managed to pull this off with my mediocre ice relics.

Shantotto - Ice Witch abilities - USB - Damage+
Raines - Wrath, Chain Blizzaga - BSB - TGC RM
Edea - Memento Mori - BSB - Damage+
Sarah - Protectga, Allegro con Moto - BSB - Mako Might
Larsa - Entrust, Wrath - BSB - Dr Mog
RW Fabula Raider - Magicite Wendigo

Raines has full 5* motes, others only have 4*.

Shantotto spams the 4* Witch, then USB and more Witch spam
Raines starts with the RW, then Wraths until BSB, then Chain Blizzaga spam for 19,998 each.
Edea does MM, then BSB (after being entrusted by Larsa). Cmd1 was around 45k each.
Sarah does Protectga, then waits a bit so that her BSB lands after the first SWW. Next Allegro, then heal and refresh Allegro after every 3 Edea casts.
Larsa entrusts his first gauge to Edea, then spams Wrath. He can cast his BSB shortly after the 2nd SWW (which gets blinked)

If not-Sarah gets slowed on the first SWW, it's a S/L. Then there were a bunch of fails when Fenrir just kept focusing on the same character with his first few attacks.
It's not like I need to farm wind orbs, and I already have 4 of each Wind magicite. so I don't care too much that it's unreliable.

I think the game might be running better too. I was getting some weird animation freezes playing this on Android 6 or higher (my old phone had Android 5 and it didn't have it) and I haven't encountered any yet. Did hear it was patched at some point, not sure if this is the one that does though.

Time will tell as I play more.

i like the ability change but it's so dumb that they left out holy. i think every other element has at least two 4-hit skills but holy still has none.

Guardbringer can also get to four hits, if you jump through the hoops. (I think JP eventually buffed it from "2-4 x 1.0" to "3-5 x 0.8", also, but I don't know when we're getting that.)

guardbringer is impossible for me to get to 4 hits except with Kain's OSB armor or Gabranth's+++ armor with synergy. and it requires wall, which i often don't use in CMs (and guardbringer is kinda useless outside of CMS). outside those realms i might not even be able to get 3 hits without wall if i want to keep my +20% holy damage.

Guardbringer is good against Shadow Dragon. Basically the only place I use it.

Lovin' the ability buff updates. Liquid Flame is cake to sub 30 now, don't even need that much meter anymore just two on Tidus and he and Bartz make a flurry of 9999s. Still can't sub 30 golem through even with the Meltdown buff, oh well. Guess I'll just wait until I have enough orbs to r3 another Raging storm.

Can one of you post a sub 30 setup on Liquid Flame for me. Like RM, hones, relevant gear, the whole nine yards.

I don't think I can sub 30 him even with the best strategy but I'm thinking I might have a fundamental strategy flaw since I feel like even with the best soul breaks I wouldn't be cracking 30 with what I'm doing now. Seems to take a bit long for momentum to build up.

I used to use double entrust to try and get more uses of of Tidus' BSB2 since it's instant 10 hits but with the ability buff I don't really need double entrust anymore. I just keep it because I need shout and Ramza doesn't have anything better to do.

I can get a borderline sub 30 (needs luck) against Liquid Flame with the following:
Fran (USB) - Wrath, Entrust, Dr. Mog's Teachings
Ramza (Shout) - Phantasm, Magic Lure, Mako Might
Cait Sith (BSB) - Curaja, Protectga, Ace Striker
Squall (BSB2) - Lifesiphon, Engulfing Quadstrike, Thunder God's Might
Tidus (USB, OSB) - Powerchain, Sapphire Shot, Scholar's Boon (+30% dmg vs weakness)
Magicite: Bismark

Fran Entrusts to Tidus immediately, Wraths up a USB (imperil ice and party quick cast 2), then tries to Entrust enough SB to Tidus for a finisher OSB.
Ramza Shouts and then spams Phantasm. (It does better damage than the 3* water ninja skill.) Magic Lure isn't really worth an action.
Cait Sith uses RW, then Protectga, then heals. He enters his BSB (party +atk/def/crit) as soon as possible.
Squall Lifesiphons into BSB2, uses Cmd1 until he has 2+ stocks, then uses Cmd2.
Tidus uses Powerchain, USB, Sapphire Shot x5, and hopefully gets enough SB from fighting and Fran to finish with USB again -> OSB before the 30s mark.
Bismark gets summoned the first time I'm worried about eating Ultimate Firaga; he's instant entry and stops the next fire attack against each party member.

This team does not _reliably_ clear below 30s. It has no way to prevent or cure Paralyze, Cait's gauge is unreliable, and Squall's damage is competent against man/whirl forms (neutral to ice) but plummets against the hand form (negates ice). The simplest way for me to improve it would be to make Ramza into another Wrath/Entrust user (which, yes, seems pretty standard for Magicite speed clears.) I have thus far been too proud to craft a second Entrust for this purpose. I did get Paine USB, and once she's up to level 99, I'll sub her in for Squall and see how that changes things.

I have completed legend dives on Ramza, Squall, and Tidus, although Ramza's isn't really relevant here.

Personally I prefer FFTA since I want Ramza's USB and have less dupes (even then I'd rather have more Genji Gloves than Orlandeau cloaks and Gafgarion swords) Also would rather have Agrias stuff over Almas. I'll probably pull on both through if I miss Ramza BSB2 or Marche USB.

tough choice. this banner is all Ramza while the next event splits them up. like you, i have Orlandu/Gaff BSBs and genji gloves, and would prefer Agrias to Alma. i don't want Marche's stuff but he seems unavoidable either way.

just did the FFV torments thanks to +1 valigarmanda uses and 3-hit meteor. 3 pretty different parties. first 200

Gilgamesh: gaia cross, retaliate (no SB)
Faris: multi break, heathen folic (BSB, used just once) [double hit]
Krile: vali, titan (BSB)
X-death: memento mori, meteor (mblink SSB) [mako might]
Lenna: curaja, stumble step (+50% res medica) [dr mogs]
RW: Rikku USB

retaliate through trash, got lucky with a lot of fairy pigs; only 1 spell ever cast. that josef RM was a blast from the past. i was able to build up 1 bar on each character more or less. these are low enough where full break + mbd goes under the magic softcap for bosses, which was kinda necessary with no wall, even with Lenna's +50% res and two mblinks used. then the 250

this was kinda my standard zerg down with Cloud USB, no details really needed, except that Cecil is my only physical aoe en-element unless i'm forgetting one. happened to work out exactly that 2 BSB uses under Cloud USB + 2 valis killed all but the earth-weak one, who i finished off with gaia cross. then 300, i got the CM first try.

i can't believe this weird strat worked. no breaks, i saved the chant for later while setting up the lures and started out using all 4 frost strikes after the first Cloud USB. then did 4 quake strikes after 2nd Cloud USB and had the chant up for this one. Krile used BSB, 3 valis, a couple BSBs again and then 2-3 meltdowns. Lenna got silenced super early (whoops didn't take ultra cure) and contributed basically nothing but +50% res. which, granted, was pretty useful. took very little damage. Y'shtola didn't even need to use asylum until it was too late (i think shellga wore off).
