Because people finally realize that late 06/07/early 08 period is one of the most important time periods in world history post WW2. Took em fucking long enough, ive been saying this stuff by like 2010. Most subcultures modern era began around 2007. Of course, with the events of 2015, 2016, and some of this year we are seeing that 06/07/08 time period finally end. Took it long enough. But this new era seems to be even worse. But we were living in 2007 for a long time, and people got afraid, angry, frustrated, etc and it caused Trump.

But to answer your question, no I havent been at a housewarming party recently.

I lived the first 17 years of my life in Pittsburgh (been in Atlanta for the next 13), and nobody with a brain cell cares about bringing back steel mills, at least when I was there.

Pittsburgh tbh survived the rust belt decline better than all the comparable cities in the area (buffalo, cleveland, cinci) except maybe columbus, but columbus has always been a medical/college town more than the other pa/ohio/kentucky/indiana/non nyc new york area.

Pittsburgh rebounded (and was actually considered one of the biggest cities least hit by the financial recession of 07/08. It hosted the G20 summit or whatever because of that.

A major reason why some people are saying Pittsburgh rebounded better than most rust belt cities is because they didn't go the route of "were rebranding as a tourism city" like detroit did with dumbass shit like six flags auto world, and cities like buffalo and cleveland did a little bit of too. Nobody vacations in the rust belt. Pittsburgh embraced medical technology quite a bit, also has quite a few prestigious universities for a city its size (Pitt, Duquesne, and Carnegie Mellon). Aging populations are actually helping it for the short term at least, because that means more medical work. Long term it might not be very effective though, idk.

I think 2007 is pretty much the reason for a lot of things are going on in the world right now, because its pretty much why. I stopped posting about it for a long time because I do think that era is ending, but the newer era seems to be worse, and was caused by 2007.
