I saw this being shared around on Facebook, and rather than just say "TAKE THAT, REDHATS!!!", I genuinely wanted to ask what your rebuttal to this would be. It seems spot on to me, but I'm interested in a real rebuttal.

If you voted for a man who says he prefers soldiers who don't get captured, who said he knew more than the generals, who dodged the draft, who said he always wanted a Purple Heart, who called the military a disaster, you can't tell me you're anti-protest because you're concerned about disrespecting our troops.

If you voted for him because he says what's on his mind despite not being politically correct, how do you begrudge these athletes for doing the same?

If you voted for a reality show host and business tycoon because he's an outsider, why do athletes have to stick to sports?

And if you liked him because he was willing to take on a campaign, make himself a target, and leave his comfy life because he wanted to say what was wrong with the country, how can you say these athletes need to shut up and be grateful they're rich?

I'm not understanding why the NFL kneeling is disrespecting the troops but trump's comments aren't. Can you clarify?

Conservatives only care about the vague concept of "the troops" as an ideological bludgeon, they don't actually give a rat's ass about the people themselves.

Wait, Trump saying that he dislikes vets that got captured means he was talking about McCain specifically but him referring to both sides having good people over in Charlottesville means he wasn't talking about neo-nazis at all? How does that work?

The left has so perverted the concept of free speech that they believe criticizing someone's speech is the same as infringing on it.

But then what do you expect from people who think assault is a justifiable reaction to speech that offend you to much?

John McCain is not sacred.

But Trump disrespected McCain, a veteran, when he said he likes troops who don't get captured. That seems just as, if not more disrespectful, to the military than not standing for the pledge.

Or is this just one of those things where conservatives glorify the troops until they come home.

Respectively,

Because he was specifically talking about John McCain

Because he was specifically talking about the debate surrounding the Confederate statues (and most people in the country support keeping the statues up)

I never said such a thing. I said that shutting down speeches though violence, storming the stage, pulling the fire alarms, etc. infringes on their speech, but protesting legally does not infringe on speech.

The people decide what is and is not sacred. And it's really clear that the anthem is sacred and McCain is not, given how nobody on the left gave a shit about McCain until they realized they could use a rude comment against him by Trump as a beatstick, and how the majority of Americans despise players who kneel for the anthem.

If you have a problem with that, well, tough.
