I heard on the radio that with porn being so easy to get to these days, and with it becoming more and more "hardcore" and degrading, that people are becoming addicted to it and that it can lead to loss of reality. It seems the stuff actors do on screen for money can be very different from real sex lives and that looking at porn can cause distorted views of sex. I for one look at porn, and it hasn't impacted my life to such extremes, but I can see how it's not good if you are obsessed with it. Is looking at porn a bad thing?

I've watched so much porn that I hit some sort of end on the mountain of porn desinsitivity and now mostly enjoy normal things like two women performing oral on each other

It's similar to junk food. Porn addiction is a real thing that can cause damage, but most people don't have to worry about it as long as they practice moderation.

It can be harmful for certain people, but that's about it. NPR ran a piece recently where some guy who directed a film themed around porn or something claimed that pornography going mainstream affected fashion, but -- in all honesty -- his analysis was shortsighted and stupid, ignoring that mainstream sensibilities had themselves changed and the gradual change likely had little or nothing to do with porn.

This is the same thought process that playing too much video games will make you go on a murdering spree. That simply isn't the case. Porn is just a form of media and isn't 'real'. It's no different to watching other forms of media. If you stop telling the difference between fantasy and reality I think you have more things to be worried about than porn being harmful or not.

Not sure if the two ideas necessarily correlate. Everybody has sex (and they don't need porno to want it), and they'll take their cues from wherever if they don't have personal experience. Granted, if somebody *does* try to kill people with guns, then they'll take their cues from wherever which is why you see idiots try to shoot with their guns pointed sideways.

Porn is about as real as reality tv. Do you think snuff films should be watched by the general masses? Cause those have caused countless copycats.

In some situations-when used too much/as an escape from actual human contact, the viewer is too young, when it harms the subject of the porn itself (in a way they didn't ask for) etc. but for the majority of people, it's harmless and fun.

Actually you do make a good point. Some folk do take inspiration from what they see in porn and apply it to their sex life to "spice things up" or whatever. I still can't see that as a bad thing though.

Only in circumstances where someone has a serious disconect from reality, or suffers from some sort of sex addiction. Otherwise its harmless. There have been no serious studies in the last thirty years or so that has proven any danger.

probably. Sex is a two way street, and porn is just sheer self indulgence. All you're gaining from it is how to push your own buttons in ways that are unobtainable from normal sexual activity.
