Trekking back to chapter 2 for a bit.

I think Kirumi deserved a better trial than what she got. Using just a piece of black cloth as evidence is spotty at best. A piece of black cloth could have as good of a chance being Maki's spare skirt, or Kiyo's spare mask and not necessarily be Kirumi's glove.

While there is some merit in wanting to frame Himiko from the get-go, I just can't help but feel that the excessive effort only served to sabotage herself by leaving a mount of evidence. Knowing how capable Kirumi is, it feels really OOC of her to be so sloppy.

Readjusting the timeframe of thr crime from before nighttime to throughout nighttime helps mitigate this a little by breaking her Kokichi alibi, but not by much. All in all, this trial could be much better.

I mean when you get down to it, almost every murder mystery murder is stupid as heck though. The best way to get away with murder in a situation like that is just wait til everyone is split up, strangle someone suddenly, then walk away. Bam, now nobody/very few people have a reliable alibi and there is no motive connecting you specifically to it, and you didn't use anything to leave evidence of.

While it might not be the most well constructed case in the series, there is always a certain amount of stupidity you have to suspend your disbelief for in murder mysteries unless there is a goal other than 'just kill them and get away with it'. So it doesn't really bother me.

What do they mean by the "killing game will go on forever"
Are they stuck in some sort of a loop, are they in a literal game? is this why Monokuma insists it was possible to revive someone, because it isn't real?

The Necromonicon sounds like it'd demand a live sacrifice in its spell, and still wouldn't work. It does sound like Himiko might be in danger though, since this is still a "magical" tome after all.

Chapter 3 investigation. Just started so here goes.

Rejoice, for I'm finally rid of Angie. Her cult arc really improved my opinion of her, but 2 chapters of straightforward Atua stuff was tough to stomach.

But prior to that, Kaito's really coming into his own here, breaking down Maki's icy front. Look at them batering so naturally.

The wax figures creeped me out first time I saw it when Angie was still alright.

Gold plating on the back door lock? Kokichi seems too important to K.O. now, so does that mean I've just maxed out another culprit?

Kiyo is holding a seance with 4 other people. I wonder if a new murder will happen in the middle of this investigation? 5 peeps in a completely dark room, perfect time to strike and make everybody bounce back and forth the four without a solid conclusion.

Chapter 1 Investigation Done
I'll do the trial tomorrow. I've seen people debating who they think culprits are and whatnot. However, I suck at stuff like that. Instead, what I will do is reference the best part of the investigation: COSPLOX! I nearly died. Tsumugi will get bumped up my rankings after Chapter 1 just by virtue of that and the Death Note reference. Also, as much as I don't like Himiko, Kokichi is just so goddamn annoying. He's definitely going to bring up the rear.

Tentative ranking based on my own opinion

kaito - Kaito is doing really well netting a slot in the main characters circle, buddying up with Shuichi, breaking through to Maki, being the new Kaede of the group. I hope he has a happy ending, but I'm afraid he might go the way of Chiaki.
kokichi - I like his lies-not-lies, plotting and two-faced-ness. Outside of Kyoko, I think he has the best chance of out-witting a mastermind out of all 3 games.
kaede - Did more in her short screen time than most of the cast. Most likely will be a better protagonist than Shuichi if given the chance.
kirumi - Genuinely nice, capable and would've been a valuable member if only she hasn't been corrupted by her motive video.
shuichi - Weakest of the main protagonists throughout all three games thus far. He's weak, he knows it, and he's actively trying to fight it. I can respect that, and I want to see more.
ryoma - I like his gimmick. His arc culminated in a way that I do feel bad for him.
angie - Her chapter 3 arc vastly improved my opinion of her in a "respect the threat she can pose" kind of way. Would've been below Miu otherwise.
maki - I get the sense that her arc is going to pick up real quick. But until them, she doesn't have much to work with and "going to be important" can only get her so far.
gonta - He's just...... alright. Not really very interesting, but very inoffensive too.
kibo - Good news, he's not a Makoto clone despite his appearance clearly referencing him. Competent during work (i.e. investigations and trials).
tsumigi - Largely irrelevant thus far. Being a girl trumps any personal relationship I have with Kiyo though.
kiyo - Largely irrelevant thus far. Made it this far because I managed to gain some insight on him personally through maxing his FTEs.
tenko - Sick of her misandry shit. Chapter 2 portrayed her as a needy stalker friend, but chapter 3 corrected it somewhat.
himiko - Sick of her "magic" shit. Get back to reality for goodness sake.
miu - Rude, offensive, dumb, sex jokes, ugh. Gets shut down so easily too so she can't even play her rude bully role properly.
rantaro - I have absolutely nothing to work with. Therefore, I have no choice but to put him there until the story reveals more for him post-mortem

Can't contemplate Iruma out of the top 3.

Finshed V3 today and realized why I loved the first case so much. Spoilers for the whole game btw.

So many people die in this one so there's less cast interaction. They left boring ass characters like Kaito and Tsumugi alive for so long but killed off Kaede, Kirumi and Ryoma so early? You can literally see Tsumugi being the mastermind for so long because she contributes nothing to the game, but keeps surviving on the to next chapter.

Chapter 3 investigation continued

I successfully guessed that there'll be a new case in the middle of an existing case. Tenko's stock was steadily rising too despite my disdain for her misandry. I can respect her commitment to Himiko.

But why though? Why do the 2 K.O.s in 1 case schtick again? Why did the culprit target Tenko?

Back to the case, I vaguely remember Kokichi inviting me, as well as send Kibo away. Couple that with the gold on Angie's door lock, I'm starting to think that maybe against all odds, Kokichi may be going out next.

But 1 very interesting plot point that I think they might explore is that the second culprit is a different person, and he/she will be free to loiter around in chapter 4. That's bound to cause some tension among our party.

End of Chapter 1 - THIS GAME CAN FUCK RIGHT OFF!

I was wondering why the game spent so much time putting Shuichi and Kaede together. As things kept progressing, there was a distinct sense that the Gonta idea would die off, and maybe Rantaro Nagito'd himself (but on accident). Then, maybe Shuichi fucked himself over to make Kaede a better main than she already was.

But NOPE! The game had the balls to kill HER off instead. I laughed at the Punishment Time, including the Family Guy homage with Monokid getting blasted (cause Monodamn did it for The Rock), but Jesus Christ. You have an awesome main character, and you just pawn her off for the sake of a Makoto-esque dweeb with no ballsack. Props to the game for the balls, but shame on them for killing off the best character right away. Kaede had the right level of charm and determination to see a game through without ever being insufferable...Sheesh. They made me cry too. Fucking skanks.

Goddamn spoilers. Also, these rankings are somewhat influenced by impact in the chapter's themselves. Kaede and Shuichi were given SO much screentime, they had way more chance to develop as characters. Tsumugi had "the thing," and I found it hilarious. Everyone else stayed well in line with their initial selves or had jack all to do.

Were you able to max out anyone's FTE? I tried to max out Ryoma but for some reason, he remain stuck at 2 shards despite me giving him 4 good gifts.

Kaede only gets 2 scenes with everyone. She can't max anyone. Also, Shuichi's scenes are different than hers.

Not surprised to learn of that, considering the storyline. But that means I missed out on 2 shards trying to max someone when it turns out that I physically can't back then. That's a big bummer.
