I am also not advocating about knowing about straight sex or anything. I said all sexual matters should be taught to a mature mind and parents should be forewarned and allowed to have the child sit it out if they object.

So they shouldn't know that their mom and dad are in a relationship?

What

I assume part of your "hide the gays from the kids" initiative is to not let them know that some men are in relationships with men and some women are in relationships with women. Please correct me if I'm wrong

What the actual fuck corrik

Yeah, unfortunately a liberal here thought if you don't single out a transgender child in kindergarten to be nice to that the other kids would be bigots to that child. Hence pointing out how dumb that was.

Think they are moreso interested in what crayons they have that day and stuff. But, who knows. We are more conservative out here!

Corrik kids are exposed to straight people by default, cisgender people by default, and various racial groups (primarily white people in America, sometimes exclusively white people depending on where you live) by default. Why is acknowledging people that they don't see in person every day "singling out" those people?

Why can't you learn about Women and African Americans in history normally as part of a curriculum all year long?

If anything, it is more offensive that you have to have a specific month because it establishes those groups haven't done enough to be covered normally.

The months are pointless. Just needs incorporated better.

We SHOULD learn about Black Americans and Female Americans in normal curriculum, without the need for special months. But again, historically, curriculum has been decided by a large white, European-descended population of males that, even if they have good intentions, don't necessarily feel compelled to highlight the achievements of people unlike themselves. Again, what you're suggestion is perfect in theory, but completely ignores reality.

That said, modern society has been moreso shaped by White Europeans than any other. Chinese likely would have been the main driver of society if they hadn't torn apart their fleet prior to the Europeans coming across.

That's neither now nor then.

There is plenty to teach encompassing all in regards to history.

Realize that women gained the vote less than 100 years ago. And the Civil Rights movement in america was just 50 years ago. (next year will mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's Death)

Maybe one day Women's History Month and Black History month will be unnecessary. (I don't think they even really do much with Women's History Month, I know we didn't when I was in school. Though I think there should have been) But I think they're necessary now.

By talking about their accomplishments? I mean, not sure the answer can exactly just be spitballed on the spot. A lot of the reason there is a major lacking so much in African Americans and Women in history is the fact that they relatively were kept down for the majority of American History.

Even my African American History classes in college weren't so much different. We talked about a few more abolitionists and anti-abolitionists sure.

I mean, there was some Women and African-Americans we went over in my grade schools from Nat Turner (prob a bad example) to Frederick Douglass Betsy Ross to Amelia Earhardt.

To an extent, there is a dearth of content due to the way the history of the United States unfolded and also why you see so much more incorporation of African American and Women history as the Civil Rights era unfolds.

I don't have the time to really get into it too much as I am playing Destiny atm.
