Corrik's stance is and always has been that if you do something that acknowledges the existence of something, you're forcing it upon somebody.

Fair enough, however teaching someone sex-ed at age 12 is a bit late. Girls typically get their first period between the ages 10-15 so to teach them sex-ed when around half the female class has already shown physical signs of puberty is illogical.

It would be like writing a final exam and then being taught the course. The information is nice, but they could have used it earlier.

Just let them learn through fear like Sansa Stark.

She was like 17 (ignoring the fact it's fiction).

But, I guess, you are right. If we do not teach 5 year olds about transgender sexuality, they will grow up and kill people via telekinetic thoughts.

Another thing missing from yesterday's discussion is whether Corrik thinks if there is an appropriate age group to talk about the existence of trans- (and homo- I guess) sexuals and what age that would be.

When you do sex ed in school with parent notification and the ability to opt out if you wish to teaxh your child it yourself.

10-13 years old range imo. I would go with 12.

I don't get how teaching about the existence of gay people somehow involves sex. Like, I'm in a relationship with another man, we're both asexual. It isn't really even a part of our relationship.

How horrible are your romantic relationships if the only thing that differentiates them from anything else is that sex is involved?

Early sex ed is about protecting children from sexual predators taking advantage of them. Your discomfort over education leaves children vulnerable as they figure that stuff out on their own. *ESPECIALLY* in the advanced age of the Internet where kids have been bumping into hentai by googling their favourite cartoons for decades.

That's exactly what I'm saying...

Like, you see the problem with reducing romantic relationships to nothing but sex, right? The majority of the time I spend with a romantic partner is rather similar to what I do with my non-romantic friends. We watch movies, play games together, discuss our lives, whatever. There's intimacy, yes, but there's so much more going on. Yet people like Corrik and Ulti immediately jump to sexualizing relationships, as if that's all gay men (or even straight people) do with each other.

I haven't explained transgender to my kids yet (not sure I need to, but I wouldn't object to the school doing it, especially if there was a transgender student in the class)

I did explain to them sometimes boys marry boys, and sometimes girls marry girls. They just said "Okay daddy," like I had just told them the sky is blue, or grass is green.

The only reason you cannot explain something to your kids is if you don't understand it well enough to explain it.

And that's the problem with conservatives - they don't understand, and they're scared of their kids understanding something they don't, so they treat it like all ignorant people treat things they don't understand - with fear and superstition.

So kids grow up learning to fear what the boogeymen that their parents convinced them LGBT people are, and then confronted with one, their fear turns to anger and they murder people.

The worst part? I think gay panic/trans panic is still considered an acceptable defense in several courts... I would love to be proven wrong on this.

Carrie is not about transgender children. It is about a girl who had to deal with a parent who had mental illness and how despite her best attempts to conform and fit in her mother's illness consumed and ruined her life to the point she couldn't handle it anymore.

(or you could argue it is about a girl who harbors a great evil and how it drove her mother insane trying to contain that evil while also preserving her love for her daughter).

What a great story.
