Board 8 > Fix the Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite launch roster [mvci]

You must keep the roster at 30 characters (15 Marvel, 15 Capcom). Actually this is too hard. Let's say you can add 5 to each side (20 Marvel/20Capcom) if you really can't think of cuts. You do not need to include characters who have been confirmed as DLC.

You can do two versions and I'd personally be interested in hearing about both: your dream roster and a more realistic version if there's significant difference. Dream roster is obviously whichever 30 characters you want so you can kick out Iron Man and Captain America for Jubilee and Vulture or something. Realistically though, some characters are locks and that list should reflect that.

30 characters is tough on the Marvel side especially. Between the stone cold locks, the current popular characters, and fitting in a decent contingent of new characters, it's next to impossible. Throw in a desire to include even a modicum of diversity and wow it is not easy. Leaving out popular characters like Rocket and Deadpool was painful, as was leaving out my personal faves from UMvC3 like Taskmaster and Ghost Rider, but throwing them in made it the same kind of terrible recycled sausagefest that the actual game is.

Those aren't the characters I like the most personally but I found those easier to justify than some of my favs.

Gambit returning would have been really cool since he missed out on 3. Magneto/Storm are just too good in VS. Also I would have been interested in Spiral. Marvel 2 gameplay for her was cool and I want to see knife loops in Infinite. Cyclops, Iceman, Psylocke, Rogue I like but don't need.

I don't particularly care too much about any of the Capcom characters I listed since the only one I care about is Viper and she's not getting in over Ryu/Chun. I would have been in favor of kicking those two out too for literally almost any other SF characters but so it goes. But those four I put down stick out to me as very bootable. Would have included BB Hood too but I don't know if I can justify Darkstalkers getting 3 characters with 15 slots. I would jump on any excuse to kick Nemesis. Second DMC character (either Vergil/Trish/evenLady) would be ideal for meee but it's not happening so whatever. Also I like Firebrand and if it was possible to keep him and not Arthur I'd do it but they seem like a package deal.

I'd keep Ghost Rider but just use the Robbie Reyes version for dumb ghost car shenanigans.

Basically, take Marvel 3, remove a bit of fodder as well as some good characters to adjust for puny roster, add Iceman, Daredevil and Asura.

Honestly though UMvC3 just completely nailed the roster so at best this'll just be that but worse with less people

Honestly when it was confirmed to be MCU centric I was excited for the potential it had to bring in some cool characters that haven't been in yet like Punisher, Daredevil, Loki and even Howard the Duck would be a cool joke character. But they didn't even commit to their own damn concept and kept Ghost Rider and Nova (both of which I like, but really?). Not to mention the comic design for other characters like Gamora. I feel like the MCU you idea was just an excuse for Marvel not wanting to include X-Men character and whatever the hell is going on at Capcom right now

To be perfectly fair, every time something has been said to be "MCU centric," it has almost always referred to the movies only. Loki's a weird one to leave out, yeah, but I never expected Punisher or Daredevil. Not in the initial roster/first batch of DLC, anyway.
