Twice.

Once as a kid, I didn't understand sarcasm and took my dad's "we're gonna have to call an ambulance" in response to my brother being constipated seriously.

Second time had to call for my mom.

I had someone call for me at a gas station outside of South Padre Island after Spring Break 2008. Turns out i was detoxing and in the middle of a panic attack.

And this year I hit a tree after swerving to miss a deer in the road. I didn't think the Tahoe would run, but i got home with no injuries. I thought my car was toast, but it's still worth over 30k, so not a total

For a friend's alcohol poisoning.

He was out cold, I shined a flashlight in his eye and he didn't even flinch.

One guy objected that he was just passed out.

I didn't believe him.

I went to go visit someone in prison.

So my brother and I prank called 911 and hung up while in the waiting area.

The guy at the front desk then said "To whoever called 911 just now, please stop playing on the phone"

My three experiences with 911 -

1 - Got rear-ended on a highway on-ramp (lady in front of my stopped, so I stopped, then the driver behind me plowed into me). Police came, paramedics came. Paramedics did an on-scene examination of the driver who hit me and her kid(s) and then left. The cops were like "Uh, did they look at you?" "Nope..." "Well, they were supposed to." -_-. That's alright, I just said eff it and didn't bother them.

2 - Got taken hostage at gunpoint outside of a mall, taken to a bank down the street and the kidnappers took money out of my account then let me out a couple blocks away and told me to run. The cops came to question me and my coworker who was also kidnapped (they took us in his car). The police interrupted us mid-report to tell us they found a suspect - a random innocent black man by himself carrying a bag... then the crime scene investigation unit failed to take elimination fingerprints from my coworker and myself from the vehicle the criminals had left at the mall parking lot, so I had to go myself to the police department for that. And then the detective who did follow-up questioning on two different days suggested on the second day I was having a homosexual relationship with my coworker, and that was the end of that interview.

3 - Called 911 on a guy who was driving down the freeway extremely erratically around 11 PM one night. Since it was an interstate (DC beltway), they first transferred me to the other police department responsible for that stretch of road. And then when I started to describe the vehicle and everything they just hung up on me.

So that was cool.
At least I haven't been given any traffic tickets by a cop. :\

Also a funny story, back in the 90s we had one of those ancient telephones with the physical buttons and wires and such, my mom would wipe down the phone with a wet paper towel every week or two to clean it. I noticed she'd usually end up hitting a couple buttons inadvertently while she was doing that and told her she should disconnect the phone before cleaning it so she doesn't accidentally call 911. She didn't start taking my advice until one day when she got a call back from them saying we called and hung up moments after she cleaned the phone

tl;dr my mom's answer would be "only as a prank call, but it was an accident"

I selected "Yes, for a friend/family" since it was more for then myself, even though I was partly affected by the situation.

A family member used to own a baskin Robbins/ dunkin store and the people where being aggressive of not leaving when they sotra barged in the doors after hours when workers where attempting to have a one way exit of some of the customers that still lingered. Efers thought I was joking when I said I was gonna call if they didn't leave? ..

also if you own a business and nice to cops, response time is amazingly short <3 (plus it helped being in a small town, It was less then 30 secs I saw the red and blue lightsXD

Yeah, around 1/2 weeks ago, 2 guys were trying to rob the place right next to my house.

I called 911, but didn't get an answer. After that, I called to other place (86 something I think it was? It's an anonymous call sorts of thing).

I told them what was happening and they told me that this number isn't for those types of calls, and that I should call 911 instead of wasting their time. I then told them that 911 didn't answer, not even 10 seconds later they re-direct me with 911.

Around 10 police cars arrived, at around 5 minutes into the call. One robber escaped, other was caught. All of the police cars stayed in one place, instead of actually surrounding the area, but at least they did something.

Edit: Also, the place they were trying to rob was a pharmacy or whatever it's supposed to be written, a drug store or w/e. It was closed, so that's why no one in that place called.

Oh, there was also when I got into my world ending car wreck.

"...Help... The car... I killed it..."

I was massively concussed, suffering from major blood loss, and drifting in and out of consciousness. Thank god the cops were set up to track my location from the GPS in my phone.

Oh! Plus I called them when I was four because "My mommy won't wake up". Didn't yet understand the phrase "My mother is a worthless drunk".

Great fucking times.

Yes, twice in the past year.

Once because of a neighbor's house fire. Luckily, no one was in there at the time, since the woman who normally stayed there was living with relatives due to poor health.

The second was due to my mom and I discovering a dead body (gunshot) down the street from our house.

I did once by accident back in the 90's.

We had a phone where there was a "police" "fire" and "ambulance" buttons at the top of the keypad - right near the hang up button. I once pressed one of those by mistake when I was a kid. I tried to explain it to the operator on the phone, and they actually believed me. Never even stopped by the house LOL

There have been other times where I could've but someone else did instead (in emergency situations)

First time was when my dad tried to kill me.

WTF?

Heh, yeah. He's always hated me, I don't know why. He'd tried other methods to get rid of me in the past. At least twice he tried, I'm thinking he was probably also behind a 3rd but I'm not certain about that.

First for certain time, I was severely hurt in a car accident. The doctors didn't do their jobs(never even got examined) and ended up with gangrene in my intestines. I needed surgery to live, and my dad refused to sign the consent form(I was 9). He told the doctors to just let me die. If my mom hadn't thrown such a fit at the time, I'd be dead because of him.

The time I called 911 he decided he needed to just do it directly. He always threatened me and my mom with death if we did anything to upset him, and he had bullets with our names written on them. He always said one day he was just going to kill us and go on with his life like we never existed. I never left my room, and felt like a prisoner. One night my mom came into my room and watched a movie with me, and for some reason that set him off. I heard them arguing in the other room, he didn't want her spending any time with me. So he decided that night was the night, and he was going to kill us. He and my mom got in a fight with her trying to stop him from loading the gun, I rushed out and joined in. He turned on me and started trying to beat me to death. I fought back, but my mom was holding my arms(thinking I'd make things worse somehow if I fought back). So he got the upper hand and began strangling me, and biting my arms and hands when I tried pushing him off. I managed to break free and called 911 real quick, but he tackled me and smashed the phone.
Thankfully he was too afraid of being caught red handed by the cops, and he calmed down.

Sometimes I wonder if it would've been better to let him kill me then.
