For me, 2009 was the best year of my life. Though it wasn't perfect, it was the year that I realized what I wanted to do in life, I was more successful in college and extracurricular activities than I thought I'd ever be, I was doing many new things, I had some great friends, and unlike several years before and several years after, I finally started talking to my dad regularly again after not doing so for 6 years, and I had no depression. I look at that year fondly and I really miss how I was back then - not in a clinging to the past kind of way, but I legitimately like and miss the person I was back then.

2014 had nothing good going for it and the events of that year still affect me heavily today. Between people close to me committing or attempting suicide, my confidence being destroyed, losing friends, getting involved in job scams, being threatened with physical violence multiple times while facing depression with thoughts of suicide, being away from family while all the above was happening, being unemployed for months before getting a shitty job, my dad's marriage failing, and many other things, I can't think of a year that broke me as much as 2014 did - I'm still trying to get over it.

2007 was the worst.

2013-present have been nothing but good, even with some bumps along the way. I guess I could say 2013 was the best since it kicked it off.

Best is currently 2017.

Worst was probably 2009 or 2010, had some rough patches dealing with stuff, but ive been either content or happy at pretty much any point in my life.

Best was probably 2008, when I felt like I had everything figured out

Worst was 2009 when I realized life wasn't going to be that simple after all and it's all been pretty mixed ever since.

2013 was pretty great until the end. My band was enjoying some success, was intimate with TWO WHOLE females :O

2003 was cool cause I worked on a fun summer project

2014 got to go to the world cup in brazil

2006 got to go to England (also during the world cup)

---

2007 may have been the worst - got kicked out of my parents' and had to do a lot of growin' up real quick. getting through it helped me long-term, though.

2010 sucked at the beginning, was working nights stocking and lived in kind of a shitty house. once i got out of the stocking job, though, it was an interesting experience

2004 was when i started having real difficulties being mentally healthy. end of 2013 and onward has also been rough on that front.

best: probably '11

worst: '17. still not a terrible year (and obviously it's not over yet), but a year of not studying (after dropping out from uni) AND not having a job, as well as constantly getting turned down when applying for jobs, kinda sucks. also see the depression topic, where i may or may not whine more about this in the upcoming months. (plus there was other shitty stuff too that happened to me this year that i won't get into.)

2008/2009 got a bit weird, as did 2004-2005. I'd say 2015 was a good year? I have a lot of good years but few really stand out.

Worst: Probably 2013 or 2016

Best: 2007, 2005, and 2015 (a good portion of 15 was bad, but my daughter was born that year, and that moment was better than all the other years put together)

Best: 2012

My final year of high school, where I somehow transitioned into being one of the most popular kids at school and got involved in a bunch of fun extra-curricular camps and leadership activities. It's also when I started dating my current girlfriend, which was the first (and only) serious relationship of my life.

Worst: 2011

The year I experienced Anxiety for the first time, which messed me up for a good portion of the school year. I still feel the effects of it today.

Oddly enough, despite 2012 being my favourite year, I think every year post-high school has been more enjoyable, and it's not something I'd want to go back to. I have it as the best because it significantly changed my life for the better and started me on the path I'm currently on.

Best was either a stretch of years in the late 90s when I was a kid and had no responsibilities or the year I graduated high school and had no responsibilities. Let's say 1998 because that was the year I played FFVII, ha.

Worst was either 2002 (middle school awkwardness/moving from my first house), 2011 (hating my career choice, dealing with my shitty ex), or 2014 (pretty much everyone in my family dying and existential crises). 2011 was probably the objective worst.

It's insane how much better things can get in a short amount of time though.

Best - 2015. The year my son was born.
Worst - 2010. Not that it was that bad but the transition from college to a full-time job for the first time ever was challenging and I hated my first job and the environment surrounding it. The only good thing is that it paid well but I absolutely hated it.

2011 when my dad passed away and I inherited mountains of debt from not only my dad but from the things that follow after a death

and it rolls over for the next 2 or 3 years afterwards. By far the worst time of my life

And the happiest time of my life is probably when I got out of that debt around 2015ish. My social life was pretty good too.

2005 was probably the most fun year of my life, but I think 2016 topped it with my son being born.

2017 has probably been the worst year of my life. A lot of bad shit happened to me and family this summer. And it sucks because there has been some very good things this year. But the bad has been the worst I've ever been through.

Not sure what I would call my best (maybe now?), but the worst were undeniably around 2011-2014 when... I'll just say that OCD and other generalized anxieties controlled my life.

Best was 2014. Got engaged, got an apartment, adopted a cat, was doing good in school, etc.

Worst... probably 2017? Not really a specific event. Gone almost two years since graduating without a decent job, engagement fell through, don't talk to family much anymore, living paycheck to paycheck, in constant pain with my leg, just overall really down without much hope in things getting better anymore. Would've said the year when my dad died, but I mean, he's still dead, so the year it happened doesn't make much of a difference

I guess, since that's when people really start to enter the "real world."

Though for me, while that was a huge part of it, that wasn't everything. I felt there were a lot of reasons why 2014 was terrible for me that weren't related to college or career (or lack of).
