A lot of people in the poll didn't vote for FIFA 18 as their most anticipated Sept title, despite the Switch version and the amount of changes being made. FIFA is probably more content rich than any of the titles in the list, so are gamers naturally biased against sports games?

Nope.

I wouldn't say "biased". I mean, it's still early in the polling and I don't expect there to be any major uptick in voting for FIFA, but sports titles are basically annual retreads. They don't hold that same allure of being a distinctly new experience. Even sequels like Destiny 2 hold the promise of expanding the story and tweaking the gameplay and progression mechanics.

FIFA is just more of the same, with maybe some minor tweaks or an added mode that will always take a backseat to the core game, and roster updates. Even devout fans know this, so they're likely less inclined to be "excited" given they know exactly what they're getting. There's no mystery to the expectations.

This. They're for people who play sports games, and maybe GTA or CoD sometimes.

Madden fans seem to get excited for the newest releases through the years. I'd imagine many FIFA fans do, too.

Agreed, but I think only the most fervent fans would choose FIFA/Madden/NBA 2K etc over other titles, mainly for the reasons stated above.

Something like 2/3rds to 3/4ths of the site are from the US, and Americans don't give a shit about soccer.

But even so, a site like GameFAQs doesn't really attract the main demographic for sports games in general. I wouldn't say it's an anti-sports bias though, as much as a "not giving a shit about sports games" bias.
