Secondly the core message of BLM is "Black people are being killed by cops under suspicious circumstances, and at an alarming rate. We should look into that." Where as this is just flatout hatred. Now rioting is never justified. But there is a reason "both sides" has no place in this situation. There is no nuance, no gray area. This is literally because of a goddamned statue. If you wanna practice whatever backwards ideology, religion, or whaever then go ahead. More power to you. Do it in your own homes and don't bring it in the face of the public. No one cares if you think all cops should die, or that whites are all powerful, or that aborters are baby killers. These are protests and rallies with clearly malicious tones and should not be allowed to happen. That said, he deserved it. His comments are offensive and really had no place. That's certainly what I'm seeing on my feeds, which I'm happy about. The problem is the hatred infused push back targeting and painting people in a bigoted fashion. It creates a feedback loop of hate. The only people we need to hate are the ones marching and acting in hatred. I hate to go all hippy on this, but marginalising and gross accusations have never helped anyone. It let's people who are truly bigoted slip through the cracks, gives credence to their beliefs (illegitimately of course but emotions run high and common sense disappears), if your priority is improving life for all it should be via the same rules, not hatred.
