Places to see and things to do. Also, suggest food/drink I can't get in the US. I'd like to try some new things whole I'm here. I'm traveling around Vancouver and Seattle for about a week but I'll probably be going to PAX West so Vancouver will get more time.

Suggest things!

The Celebration of Light is running this week down at English Bay. Three fireworks displays tonight, next Wednesday, and next Saturday. Next weekend is Pride as well, so downtown is gonna be packed.

Granville Island is a great place to visit. It's a man-made island just under Granville bridge. Lots of places to eat (the public market has amazing meat pies), and it's where the biggest improv group performs every night. It's a great show.

If you wanna do touristy, outdoors-y things, check out Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain, or Capilano Suspension Bridge. Tonight is the last Adults Night at Playland, our local amusement park. I haven't been for Adults Night, but I go every year during Hallowe'en and it's great to go during the night.

It's night market season! If you just wanna walk around and grab a bunch of food, Richmond Night Market is amazing, and the Chinatown Night Market is okay.

Good food to try out - Burgoo, Havana, Bob Likes Thai Food, Ebisu, Kirin (amazing dim sum). Good hole in the walls include Canra Plus at International Village (Sri Lankan), Hawkers Delight on Main (Malaysian), Thai Son (Vietnamese) on Main, all of the food at Crystal Mall (the other mall next to Metrotown). Cafe Luxy is a nice, affordable Italian place on Davies (near English Bay)

There's going to be stunt plane performance over English Bay at 7:45 as a precursor for the Celebration of Lights.

The Drum is Calling festival is finishing this weekend if you are into First Nation stuff. Here is the event website.

Awesome ideas! It's my friend's birthday so I'm going to a celebration for that later today. He actually took me to English Bay and I was bummed that I would miss fireworks tonight. But Wednesday is my last full day (either here or in Seattle, not sure) so I might go do that. Definitely trying some Canadian food. Probably going to the Richmond Night Market tonight since it's near where my friend's birthday celebration is.

Also went to Stanley Park including Prospect Point. I went around Downtown Vancouver as well.

Also I had no idea Smarties are different in Canada and now I need to try them. I thought my friend was referring to the non chocolate ones I don't care for. Are Timbits anything more than donut holes? I remember them being talked about a lot in Board 8 as a Canadianism.

They're just doughnut holes. If you hit Tim Horton's, I'd suggest getting an Ice Cap. Pretty good.

Get a Sports Jersey.

Even if you don't LIKE sport. A little fashion statement never hurt no-one. It's just like back in the day around 1994, Everyone I knew had Bulls merch and didn't know shit about Basketball! :)

Have you ever had it at Red Robin in the US? I just ask because I had poutine at a Red Robin in California. I have no idea if it's any different than how it is in Canada.

Might get it anyway.

I've never had Red Robin's poutine, but as a general rule the quality of poutine you're going to get from a poutinerie or restaurant that specializes in fries is going to be a magnitude greater than what you'd find at any chain/fast food place. I believe I tried Fritz drunk after a concert once and I remember it being great.

I went there last year! Grouse Mountain was pretty awesome, definitely check it out. My favorite part of the trip.

DT Vancouver is very modern looking and can be pretty fun, easy to find drugs if that's your thing. Stay away from Blood Alley...as the name suggest, people die there nightly.
