We don't know what the future holds, we could eventually all become immortal at this point, and it could even be released as a virus that affects everyone eventually, even prisoners.

This speaks to one of the reasons:
"Kyzer was found guilty again in 1981, but because the rules regarding death sentences were still unclear, prosecutors did not ask for the death penalty this time. Instead, they sought a sentence that insured that Kyzer would never go free. Kyzer was sentenced to two life terms plus 10,000 years." Of course he was still eligible for parole after 10 years so I'm not really sure that served its purpose. "Even though Kyzer had the extremely long sentence, he was eligible for a hearing before the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles after serving ten years of his sentence." ... Copied to Clipboard!

Long prison sentences are usually made up of many counts (for ex. 7 counts of 1st degree murder & 1 count of arson), with each count having it's own sentence. Sometimes rulings are overturned/commuted to something else, therefore the overall prison sentence can be shortened for each count that was overturned

Also, sometimes prison terms are served consecutively and sometimes they are served concurrently. \
So someone who murdered 5 people and receives 30 years for each murder, will only serve 30 years if the sentences are concurrent. 150 years if consecutive. --- Everything is awesome ... Copied to Clipboard!
