I've never been a fan of sonic, though I have greatly enjoyed watching people play horrible sonic abominations that legitimately make 06 look like a good game.

This is easily the most tryhard character ever, a loveletter to bad fanfiction that, based purely on that intro and theme song, come the closest to actually working as a villain somehow too.

It is a perfect mixture of terrible and amazing, and I can not wait to see various lp crews deal with him.

This is how you evoke real nostalgia

You can't just copy the old thing and expect it to feel just as edgy. You need fresh edge. An evolution of edge. Shadow was fresh edge when he came out, but not anymore. So they need a new character that is fundamentally different. This guy is called Infinite. Not Infinite the Hedgehog or whatever. That's fresh edge. SA2 had dark techno for Shadow, which was super edge at the time. The modern equivalent is this soundcloud rapper style theme. It's perfect.

That's a good point. Infinite is to Shadow what Shadow was to Sonic. That's pretty difficult to pull off, and they've definitely been trying for years (Silver, etc).

I always lean towards "they're fully self-aware at this point" because Sonic Booms regularly insults their series, the fanbase, and all things Sonic related.

There's such a huge percentage of the fanbase who was super upset about the more light-hearted tone of the 3D Sonic's since Unleashed that this was a great way to basically give them what they wanted while at the same time mocking the shit out of them.

I don't know about mephiles and black doom but I always thought shadow was even brought back in the first place because of how popular he was. I also think it's no coincidence that shadow's game is commonly regarded as one of if not the best 3d sonic games, while black doom's and mephiles's, well...aren't.

Also the OC creator better be able to make a relatively accurate Coldsteel so the final boss can be Coldsteel VS Infinite
