EDIT: I'm getting my weeks mixed up. i'll get the photos together and piece this together. ignore the numbers for now, ok?

so, because of reasons, my wife has had a few more ultrasounds throughout her pregnancy than normal. nothing life-threatening to the baby, it's just a thing they want to keep an eye on, ok?

so, i remember the first few and being like, "this thing is a blob, it's a chicken nugget, it has no fucking clue it even exists"

then, i want to say around the ?? or ?? week, this thing actually resembled a kid, not just a nugget, and was even moving around almost sort of human. after i cried tears of joy at what my semen had accomplished, i kinda changed my stance on the whole pro-life thing.

i had always been pro-choice 100%, no matter what stage of pregnancy. but like, the thing is pretty much a full-on human by ?? or so weeks, the rest is just a LOT of growing. fuck, even feeling the kid move in my wife's belly makes me realize this, and it's still tiny as fuck!

so anyways, my thing is, i'm pro choice to a point. if you can't make up your fucking mind by ?? weeks, your lost your privilege. sorry, the thing is a human now, should have done it earlier, ok? your body has been acting weird for ?? solid weeks now, plenty of time to figure it out.

anyways, that's my stance now, and i'll use my 0% power of authority to make this a reality, ok?

Thing is, this is still true for several weeks after it's born.

I'd argue that many never move past that stage, either.

Whaaat. You don't typically get ultrasounds in pregnancy until at least 16 weeks, if not 20. And at 10 weeks a fetus is barely an inch long and looks like a kidney bean.

To add, the quickening (feeling a baby move) doesn't start until 16 weeks. For many mothers it won't start until after 20 weeks.

Problem I have with the pro-life stance, is that if abortion were to be outlawed, the desire to terminate pregnancies will persist.

Outlawing abortion just makes it more difficult for poor people to get abortions. Wealthy people will still have access to them. Though through possibly illicit channels, wealthy/affluent people will still be able to find safe, professional abortion providers.

So, then you have an uptick in unwanted children among the population who do not have the funds and/or faculties to support said unwanted children. And of course there will always be knuckleheads who say things like "If you can't afford to have a child you shouldn't have unprotected sex" as if that's realistic or not at all hypocritical.

Basically, outlawing abortions doesn't negate the need. People will always seek abortions, as they have for hundreds or even thousands of years. People act as if abortion didn't exist before Roe. It's been around forever.

You don't just go in and get scans all the time. Multiple sonograms / ultrasound and feeling the baby at 10 weeks? Good God

(sonograms are images generated by ultrasounds)

Did you also mix up what a sonogram and ultrasound are? The weeks are kind of relevant as you can't abort past 12 weeks in many places

At which point it's not like a little person (still a bean) and you can't feel the baby moving. Which is what your whole post was about.

all i understand about the sonogram is that it was inserted inside her, and used sound waves, while the ultrasound was not, but also used sound waves.

and yes, i just called my wife and i'm mixing up the weeks, lol. nine weeks was the first sonogram for sure. when i get home i'll go through the photos of the ultrasound and figure out which week it was where she didn't look like a nugget any more. i agree, 10 weeks sounds way early. this whole thing has gone by too quickly...

Memories are "generated", not "recalled". Memories are more like recipes, and every time you remember something, you're essentially making something from that recipe...without a measuring cup or labels on all of the ingredients.

To carry the analogy, babies are born without a cookbook.

In other words, bullshit.

You're off by a few months most likely. A totally different trimester.

Ps that's the difference between a transvaginal ultrasound and an abdominal ultrasound. They're both ultrasounds. Abdominal doesn't start being used until after 10 weeks most often.

then ziggis semen hit the mark shortly after the birth of my own daughter

Ziggi started talking about it around 7 months ago if i remember right. This is maybe news to you, but pregnancy typically lasts in the ballpark of 9.

Ok...and?

That's still not relevant to this topic.

Also, he's talking about a pregnancy that's at 16-20 weeks which puts it at 4-5 months. If you're gonna play Ziggi's idiotic pregnant wife game then you should get your story straight with him.

But it is realistic, and it's not hypocritical. Where are you getting this warped sense of reality from? I miss the days when people actually strived to control their urges, especially when they knew their urges could destroy their life if left unchecked. Now we act like we must act on sexual urges, because we totally don't have the choice to resist them at all. It's like we're lowering ourselves to the same standards as every other animal, as if our higher level thinking can't overwrite our instincts. Utter nonsense.
