He was brought back for a purpose. His purpose in that scene was to make sure the Wight got on the dragon and the dragon survive. He accomplished both by protecting the dragon and then warning Dany. That was a perfectly fine place for him to die and his first rebirth having purpose. But he comes back, as if told that wasn't his moment, come back and fight some more. The show is still entertaining for me but like someone else said the writing quality has been noticeably worse since it passed the books.
