even after the long discussion earlier in the episode about who the sword belongs to, and how the pommels were switched? that shot was pretty deliberately framed and the focus switch wasn't coincidental.

The prop's eye is translucent. It darkens when his hand falls behind it.

Why can't it be both? No one is saying that the sword can blink. It simply represents that he's reborn from the ice.

Nobody thought he would die, nor was he "reborn" from the ice.

They already did that scene in the last series.

He was brought back for a purpose. His purpose in that scene was to make sure the Wight got on the dragon and the dragon survive. He accomplished both by protecting the dragon and then warning Dany. That was a perfectly fine place for him to die and his first rebirth having purpose.

But he comes back, as if told that wasn't his moment, come back and fight some more.

You can say it's wishy washy but it's there all the same and can just as readily be interpreted that way.

“[That’s] which is what you try to achieve, rather than impossible plausibilities. So I think we were straining plausibility a little bit, but I hope the story’s momentum carries over some of that stuff,” Taylor said.

“It’s cool that the show is so important to so many people that it’s being scrutinized so thoroughly,” he added.

Translation: Yes we fucked that part up, but can't you guys just enjoy the show and stop nitpicking?

Uh no. I get we have 7 episodes left and things need to move fast but that doesn't mean the writing should go out the window completely.

As someone that lives in Winnipeg.
Wherever they are, it's not cold out.

They were North of the wall, why wouldn't that stagnant water be frozen to the ground unless it's regularly +10c every day to thaw it?
If it's cold enough to blizzard, it's cold enough to create several inches of ice in a single night. Actually, since the water doesn't move, you would have enough ice to walk on in only a few hours if it's as cold as we're lead to believe.

Naw, ice takes a decent amount of time to freeze to hold that amount of weight. Has to be at least 8 inches thick.

No matter how dumb the show looked due to pacing it was plausible.

Turbulent waters sure, but it was literally a hole in the ground. It should have been frozen to the bottom. It only takes sustained -1c to do it.
There's no reason the pond was thawed, and there's no reason it didn't refreeze in minutes.

I've lived through 67 winters in one of the coldest places in the world.

Actually... Episode 6 had bran control ravens from winterfell and fly to East watch and over the wall and to the night King in maybe 30 seconds? So maybe mach 3 ravens is accurate.

Not long enough for a Raven to travel 1,500-3,000 miles and then a dragon to Travel 1,500-3,000 miles back. They weren't there for weeks and if they were they wouldn't have lived. It was a terrible plot contrivance and the people defending it are in denial.

Agreed. The show is still entertaining for me but like someone else said the writing quality has been noticeably worse since it passed the books. Bran should have a more important role this season and the sansa arya littlefinger story arc has been a little silly.

Why did this Westeros Olympian motherfucking javelin thrower not get the biggest baddest dragon that was on the ground?

Which, tbh, confused me as well since it seemed the far easier target and would have stopped the enemy from escaping. My only thought is that he needed to hit the dragon *while* it was breathing flame to kill it or because the airborne one was the greater damage

Jiggy101011 posted...
Oblivion_Hero posted...
Is a zombie dragon, of the zombie type you typically need to burn or hack to pieces, and the firebreathing dragon type, still fire resistant?

There's a silly line of foreshadowing in this episode, basically now they dont need to kill the whole army they just need to kill the Night King and all of them will disintegrate. Kind of a disappointing way to get rid of the dead if they do go in that direction. I still think the series will end with everyone killing each other going after the throne and the army of the dead will win by default.

Yeah, that'd be kinda annoying. *However* that ONLY seems to apply to wights. It might not mean that the white walkers die when their king does. In general, it reminds me of the silliness of you have to kill the head vampire!

I fully expect the books to handle that aspect differently.

WhiskeyDisk posted...
On another note, is Dany seriously not only dressed like she's still in fucking southern Westeros, but flying at altitude in a damned Blizzard? I get she's on a fire breathing dragon and all, but a dragon is still ostensibly a cold blooded reptile of great size.

I wish they'd have killed them. The total lack of major deaths seemed very un-GoT this season. Tormund should have died when the wights grabbed him, or at least with Beric in the final scene. I'm glad we're getting more Jaime in season 8, but I'd have shit a brick (in a good way) if Cersei let Tyrion live and Jaime die. As it is, I have no idea what Jaime can do by himself in the North. He's not bringing the Lannister armies with him, is he?
