Could you elaborate? I'm a fan of the show who could occasionally agree with this complaint, but I wouldn't call deception a recurring theme of theirs and it does so much more for education than other similar shows and arguably even actual news stations.

this is why I don't like the show, because people think it's actually credible. I enjoyed it a lot at first because it was/is? genuinely funny but it also presents itself as more "news" than TDS or CR ever did but it's still intellectually disingenuous and completely slanted through a liberal/progressive take on things.

It's tough because I'm fine with people having liberal/progressive opinions, even though I mostly disagree with them, but when things start getting presented and consumed as facts/news when they're actually opinions/stances of what's transpiring I find it troublesome and it ruins my ability to enjoy it for what it is because I can no longer view it as anything other than propoganda.

I imagine sess feels similarly.

Examples is what I guess I'm asking for.

The episode I'm thinking of for my main example was when he covered gerrymandering. He covered it in a real Republican-centric way, which, I mean, they're the ones in power and are doing it...and Oliver did casually say once that this was a bipartisan problem...so he's not exactly wrong to cover it like he did, but it's more of a power-thing than a party-thing and I don't remember it being addressed as clearly as that. He seemed to be more on the attack with the point than appropriate for the broad issue he was covering.

Getting news from like past Colbert or John Stewart is no worse than getting it from like Fox New or some place like that. Like if you are going to get news why not get some entertainment? Although, Stewart did say that his show was primarily a comedy show I believe and not a news show, and I'd agree with him there.

That said, some times I stumble upon that naked news thing online and i always wondered how good they are at actually delivering news.

Veep is worth a look if you haven't seen it. Westworld is pretty solid.

I believe they also have old stuff like The Wire/Oz/Sopranos/Six Feet Under?

Yeah I love LWT, but mostly because of the humor and the angling - it's very clearly biased, almost dangerously so. Oliver will turn the plight of a few hundred into the plight of the entire nation, and while you can appreciate the sentimentality, the distortion of statistics and facts is real.
