As a fellow artist and aspiring "ruler", I have to say we have some things in common, but I can't agree with all of his actions.

I mean he should have known from Napoleon and general common sense not to try and keep fighting the Soviets into the winter after the Battle of Moscow went south, like come on man.

I said some things, and I don't want to rule a country like him, land is worthless to me. Souls, that's what I'm after.

For example, he also liked Disney cartoons and dogs, is it a bad thing if someone else happens to like those things too?

This board is a haven for nazis and the mods shelter them in safe spaces, they'll even give you moderations for calling someone a nazi if he...for example...says Germany lost its way after WWII. Yes, that actually happened. And he later called me a part of the JIDF (Jewish Internet Defense Force; had to look up wtf that bs acronym was -- I'm agnostic for what it's worth) and complained about Jews pushing for historical revisionism. All in the same topic. All I did was say he was a nazi. Only one of us got modded. Guess who?

I bet that hitler ends up with more Yes votes than Hillary and Colin.

No, he didn't. Germany was a mess before and after him, his war machine gave a temporary economic boost and theft from the people sent to be tortured, enslaved, and killed in concentration camps helped fund his regime. Once the war was over, Germany was in an even bigger mess financially and needed tons of outside funding and support just to remain stable. The Marshall Plan, look it up; I know hitler lovers are too stupid to have heard of that or know jack shit about history at all.
His leadership was a complete clusterfuck with no hierarchy of command just an confusing zig-zagging web of authority that constantly hindered nazi germany and helped restrict their military successes. His "empire" didn't even last 10 years and didn't even last until the end of his life. As a conquerer, he's a complete failure ("but but....he took on THE WORLD!" No, he took on a few major countries and also France, while aided by a few himself. And it was his choice to make himself an enemy of so many, you don't get points for effort just for being a dumbass).

And it was a Charlie Chaplin mustache first. Poor Charlie, having his signature look forever soiled.

Germany after WW1 was in extreme poverty, weak, and on the brink of collapse.

The only really painful years for Germany were 1921-23. Germany's economy recovered strongly after the hyperinflation of 1923 (the twelve-month growth rate after the Weimar Republic rebounded from its first serious recession over the winter of 1926–27 was higher than anything achieved under Hitler's Third Reich), and it was the Depression that later brought an end to what were called the Weimar economy's "gold-plated" years.

He made Germany powerful again and allowed the German people bounce back from harsh sanctions placed by the allies of WW1

Germany stopped making reparations repayments in 1931, well before Hitler came to power. By that time, she'd paid only around 21.5 billion marks -- while over the same period, she received 27 billion gold marks in net capital inflows, mainly from private investors. This, I'd point out, was less than half the cost that destruction during the war had inflicted on France; and a good deal of that destruction was down to Germany's spiteful 'scorched earth' policies in occupied France in 1917 and 1918.

In fact it could be argued that Germany actually paid between only 8 billion and 13 billion marks (i.e., 4-7% of total national income) over the lifetime of reparations, because after 1923 she used US loans to finance the payments -- and Germany defaulted on her US loans in the early 1930s, owing Uncle Sam the equivalent of roughly 8.4 billion marks in 1932.

The German economy under Hitler may look like it enjoyed a strong upturn when seen against the very low baseline of the Depression years of 1929–32, but it's a trick of the light. Nazi economic policy was definitely not a miracle formula. Most working-class German families under Hitler in the 1930s still existed on a very modest standard of living. In 1938, German families actually ate less wheat bread, meat and meat products, bacon, milk, eggs, fish, vegetables, sugar, and beer than they had in 1927. The only things they were eating more of – after five years of Nazi government – were rye bread, cheese and potatoes. (Source: The Nazi Economic Recovery, 1932–38 by Richard J. Overy, 2nd ed., Cambridge University Press, 1996.)

Meanwhile, German GDP per capita in the 1930s remained lower than that of the USA, Canada, the UK, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, The Netherlands, France, Denmark or Belgium. (Source: The Wages of Destruction: The Making and Breaking of the Nazi Economy by Adam Tooze, Penguin, 2006.)

Even by 1937, the economy was only just above the level reached some twenty-five years before, and from 1936 onward all the indices of growth began to slow down. The short-term recovery might have been achieved with remarkable speed, but the long-term prospects for growth were much more muted. Hitler was no miracle worker.

Since Political Correctness has gone out the window on this website in general, i'm going to say that WW2 created america's prosperity. We were producing war tanks, planes, military equipment every hour. WW2 created the middle class. Employment went up the roof. It made America into a super power at the expense of a destroyed Europe and the end of Japan's emperor. It was FDR's plan to fight Germany/Hitler but the gov did not want to get involved so he provoked Japan into attacking us.

Precisely. If the British hadn't betrayed their own self-interests for the French and the sake of throwing their weight around in WWI, they'd still have an empire (minus India), which means Africa and the Middle-east would likely not be such a hot mess today. Even if they'd gained independence, it wouldn't have been from somebody that went bankrupt and threw them to the wolves.

So...

How many of those 'yes' votes were actually serious and how many were just people trolling/wanting to see how high up they could get him for a laugh?

I don't know, but I think there being any yes votes at all just shows how far society has fallen

Eh. Not really. Like I said, some people voted it for the lulz. That's really not indicative either way.

It's plenty indicative. There is nothing funny about saying you like hitler or that he had good ideas. It's not even about being offensive, there are plenty of of creative works that make jokes about it, like Mel Brook's "The Producers" and it's fine and funny. There's nothing creative or clever about saying you like hitler, it's bottom barrel lazy ass trolling AT BEST.
The fact that people think it's cool to "joke" about liking him says a lot about what absolute pieces of shit they are. Nevermind the closet-cases who really are nazi's but disguise it with, "It's just a prank, dude!" to give themselves cover.
This board is disgusting and full of nazis, and the vote tally doesn't "discredit" Hillary or Trump or whoever else, it denigrates the posters themselves.
