Went to see Spider-Man. 12:30 PM showing, not too crowded. Booked me a damn good seat. I made myself comfortable. Then, a group of seven boys, aged around 13 or 14, takes their seats right behind me. They were chatting something fierce, but I figured that would stop once the movie started. A couple in their early twenties sits right in front of me.

During the movie, those fucking kids would not shut the fuck up. After about 30 minutes, I politely ask them if they could keep quiet, and they responded by telling me to "shut my fucking mouth". Meanwhile, the couple in front of me was getting pretty damn handsy with each other. The girl was outright moaning at one point. My blood was starting to boil. I just wanted to watch the fucking movie without being disturbed. So I texted the cinema security, explained the multiple disturbances, and in they came. Paused the movie, turned the lights on, caught the couple with their pants down (literally). They booted the horny couple out first, and then turned to the kids, who were given a choice: either shut up or be escorted out. They said they were going to be quiet, and security left. But that was a lie, as they were back to being a nuisance only minutes later, so I called security back in and had them thrown out too.

After the movie ended, the manager approached me and offered me a free movie ticket as compensation, which was kinda useless to me, as I'm part of their members club which gets unlimited free tickets for €25 a month. But yeah, I would have much preferred it if the whole thing could have been avoided.

TL;DR: Went to see Spider-Man, got bothered by loud kids and a couple pleasuring each other. Had them all thrown out by security and was offered a useless compensation by the manager.

What branch of theatres has a way to text security? That's great so you don't have to leave and miss things just to notify them. Was the guy seriously getting a BJ? And not in the back row like a pro?

Could you not move seats? I know I would have.

Movie theatres are not the place for that.

You could have used it for a friend or something.... on second thoughts you were sat on a movie theatre alone so maybe not.

Sounds like a satisfying end. The couple getting caught would have been enough for the ticket price

Must have been a high tech theater, not just with the security but also with the selected seating.

But really, that could have been way worse. I've had some serious shit with no security intervening at all.

Actually the management has no obligation to compensate you for any audience issues so you could show a little gratitude for them trying to make it right. Not everyone will have the same membership that you do so short of using a time machine, a free ticket to another session is the best you could hope for. Shame you had a bunch of douchebags in there with you but that's how it is with the public.

I haven't had a genuinely bad movie experience in years. It used to be somewhat regular when I was a teenager, with the last time ending with my friends and I threatening to beat the shit out of some talkative people after a couple of polite warnings, who looked like they were also in high school but a few grades younger than us. I had to laugh when one started talking again and his friend said "dude, you're going to get our asses kicked" and they remained silent. We all had a good laugh about that one later. Most or all of the intimidation factor was my one friend though, who was a fucking monster... I have zero patience for talkers in the theatre.

My friends (excluding myself, for the record) made for a terrible experience for others once... We went in a group of about a dozen, with three sober people doing the driving, me being one of them. My buddy barfs like a fountain into the floor, making the guy beside him also barf. They got up to go to the bathroom and the second guy slipped in the first's vomit and fell like it was a cartoon banana peel, getting it all over his back and in his long hair. By this point, myself and the guy beside me had relocated and sat there laughing our asses off at everything. After half an hour, some girl comes in and says "I think your friends are dying in the bathroom." We just laughed and basically said "they did it to themselves" and she shrugged and went back to her seat. Eventually we went to check on them, and they were washing their clothes in the sinks and wringing out the water. It was horrible, and I am so happy I've never done that...

I've always wanted to make a big scene during a movie I hated and ruin it for everyone.

Like leave the theater loudly ranting in the middle of the movie.

Movie theatres are not the place for that.

The fuck they ain't. There's expected levels of noise and disturbances when you attend a movie at the theater, but for the most part one should expect an enjoyable time. Just because there's no guarantee the audience won't be tainted with assholes doesn't mean someone should expect an experience filled with assholery.

People need to learn manners and movie-going etiquette.

Maybe that's an EU thing? Dude was offered euros as compensation.

Wouldn't mind seeing it here in the U.S., though.
