http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/politics/2017/july/s-pat-robertson-interviewing-president-trump-at-the-white-house-today

"I am sitting in the Oval Office with a pen in hand, waiting for our senators to give it to me. For years, they've been talking about repeal-replace, repeal-replace. I think they passed it 61 times, repeal and replace, but that didn't mean anything because you had the minority, the Republicans, they didn't have the majority so it wasn't going to get to the President, but if it ever did, Obama wasn't going to sign it," Trump told Robertson.

They passed a repeal and replace bill... 61 times... with a minority...

Do these people not realize that it's possible to be fat and malnourished at the same time?

Or that the cheapest food you can get is often higher in fat?

And that people on low income also tend to suffer from stress and often lack of sleep, both of which are factors that contribute heavily to belly fat?

I mean, seriously, there's a dozen factors and a lot of science touching upon why lower income people are fat.

http://www.businessinsider.com/why-was-russian-money-laundering-case-dismissed-house-dems-2017-7

Last summer, Donald Trump Jr. met with a Kremlin-connected attorney in an attempt to obtain information 'that would incriminate Hillary,'" the Democrats wrote, citing the emails he published. "Earlier this year, on May 12, 2017, the Department of Justice made an abrupt decision to settle a money laundering case being handled by that same attorney in the Southern District of New York.

"We write with some concern that the two events may be connected — and that the Department may have settled the case at a loss for the United States in order to obscure the underlying facts."

I mean...

From right after it happened:

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/13/world/prevezon-settlement/index.html

The abrupt conclusion has some involved in the trial wondering why this Russian investigation had been cut short.

"What most concerns me is: Has there been any political pressure applied in this?" asked Louise Shelley, an illicit finance expert who was set to testify in support of the US government on Tuesday.
Shelley — who founded George Mason University's Terrorism, Transnational Crime and Corruption Center — said the alleged money launderers got off easy.

Is "Donald Jr. won't go to jail though" the new angle here? I don't know your political affiliation really so forgive me if I misread you -- just heard this framing from Seph today too. It reminds me of Donald trying to get Comey to say he's not involved with Russia before the investigation had to comment on it.

Donakd Jr. did something illegal and unpatriotic, as did at least two other people very close to him and his dad the President. I also think there is more here than what we've seen. Whether or not what we know today is enough to successfully arrest and earn a guilty verdict, that's no excuse not to pursue this case deeper and prosecute in the same way it'd be necessary with other crimes. To say otherwise is to condone worst-case scenarios of nepotism.

Yeah, it's a really cynical and fatalist take on things.

Even if you believe it ends in a pardon, I think it's very important to follow and uphold the rule of law. If it ends that way and people find that unacceptable then it highlights that perhaps changes need to be made to the system.

But to just shrug and go, "Well, even if there is actually something to it, nothing's gonna happen so why bother" is just completely the wrong way to go about this. I get that some people might hold that view from being cynical already but others I think it's just a political tactic to try and sweep it under the rug to prevent backlash against "their side."

I really don't think Don Jr. will go to jail either. He is part of a rich family whose father is the president, if someone like Trump Sr. or republicans want to sweep this under the rug I have no doubt that they could in some way. Especially if they think they can get away with it with no political heat from their base over it.

Even if on the off the wall chance he is charged with anything he'll make some excuse to plead guilty, do like a year of time in "prison" and then stay out of the public eye for the rest of Trumps presidency. Nothing major will come of this unless republicans make it happen.

there's no jail time, no guilty verdict, no guilty plea, or anything that's going to happen to Jr. can't really nail him for breaking the law.

other people, like Kushner and anyone who talked to Congress under oath, did. but they too will probably get away with it. what they won't do is be able to shake off this story in any way anymore and have effectively lost any defense they could mount.

Yeah, again, the focus is not (or at least should not be) "let's nail Trump Jr for this specific meeting"

The broader strokes of the Trump campaign's intent to collude with the Russian government to influence an American election have been proven now. The framework of the jigsaw puzzle is complete. Hopefully this can help the investigations piece together other disparate segments of the puzzle to form the complete picture.

Politically i also think trump is running out of time to deliver. I dont know when the bottom is going to fall out of his support here but when it does it will be swift and painful. The one good thing he has going his way is the economy is mostly oblivious to his actions to this point.
