Jose Cordova from Colorado was left HUMILIATED by Spirits Airlines after he bought an extra seat on the airlines due to his size as he knew he would take up 2 seats and wouldn't feel comfortable in one.

He purchased the seats in 2 neighboring flights to and from Las Vegas for get away with 2 friends.

He said "I am a big person and i knew one seat wouldn't fit for me and to be comfortable, i wanted to have 2 seats"

His friend, Scott Tenorio called ahead of time to ask for a seat belt extender for his friend in attempt to be proactive.

The flight to Las Vegas went ahead without issue but on the flight back, Spirit Airlines gave away one of his seats without asking because the flight was overbooked. Unwilling ot take a voucher and a later flight, the airline forced him to move..

Jose said "I told them i had bought 2 seats. They said, well, talk to them when you get off the plane."

He felt humiliated as his friend said people were watching him and it's almost like, Oh my god, I've got ot sit next to that??"

Spirit Airlines released a statement stating it is looking into the circumstances and they have refunded his tickets and are working with him to "make it right".

So he's humiliated because being huge made him twice as likely to not be allowed to fly?

Apparently it's normal for airlines to fuck people about with seats so why didn't he just accept the vouchers for a later flight?

I don't agree with a fat guy getting the 2 seats but when they pay in advance for both, then he should get to go and the overbooking guy should have been kicked. Is it wasteful? Sure, but he paid for the seats so I would have stayed there and enjoyed the show. I cannot stand the overbooking crap.

Only on the bus. They sat at the front too near where the prams go and two gals got on with prams. Lucky enough they managed to squeeze in but they were clearly uncomfortable throughout the journey. Still nothing more could be really done when all the seat were taken. I found it amusing to say the least.

People get knocked off overbooked flights all the time, it's a disgusting practice but it's commonplace. Am I supposed to care more because chubbo got knocked off the flight instead of 2 humans?

He bought 2 tickets therefore he should get two seats, simple as.

I like how he is seen as the bad guy eventhough he did the right thing buying two seats, its the airline thats at fault, dont overbook flights.

I can see a utilitarian argument for bumping him rather than 2 people, but they should handle overbookings in a more orderly fashion.
