I liked IX. There's a scene about 2/3 of the way in with some of my favorite music from the entire series. I won't give the title because it gives away the scene.

Ah, I guess I should also note how far I got. SPOILERS

FF III and IV: Never played
FF VII: Somewhere after the Gold Saucer
FF VIII: Like...late Disc 1?
FF IX: I entered that glowing tree thing in the sky and found out that Zidane is just one of a bunch of...monkey-tailed clones thing
FF X-2: Close to the end where you can visit each area again, but I missed Beast Master so I got annoyed and stopped playing
FFT: I think also close to the end? Unlocked every job and there was some...high-ranking priest blabbering about crystal and summoning/becoming a demon that I can't beat.

VII is the best here and should be experienced in it's entirety. Even if I don't think it's the best game it's still significant enough that it deserves to be finished

sounds like you nearly finished IX though. You should go ahead and clean it up if you still have that save file. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend starting it again.
