If someone can provide a legitimate solution where North Koreans don't have to suffer anymore and no one innocent has to die, I'm all ears.

Sunshine Policy

A belief fostered by former President Kim Dae Jung in which both Koreas engage in talks of peaceful reconciliation and open trade talks/reuniting of families.

Was on its way to doing at least something until his death and the emergence of a more conservative regime in Korea.

It's unique thinking is that foreign countries should stay the fuck out of their relationship/attempts at reconciliation because it was foreign influences (China and America) that caused this whole mess in the first place.

Newsflash: Not a single North Korean has a future.

you're right man...NO ONE from NK has ever escaped and went on to live perfectly good lives..NO ONE....FUCK THEM ALL, right?

Continuing to make due on your inability to read gimmick, I see.

And even if a normal average North Korean escaped, it happens so few and the "wokeness" happens to so little of a percentage of its population, again, the HUMANE thing to do would be to put them all out of their misery. The chances of successfully escaping that hellhole is literally almost nil, and the consequences of attempting to do so is extremely torturous and inhumane. You're risking generations upon generations of more torture upon its citizens, AND the possible further loss of life from neighboring countries and the far from minute chance of nuclear fallout plaguing the environment....for the possibility 3 or 4 people will escape per year? Are you fucking insane?

When you grow up and learn to see the reality of things, you'll realize the world sucks and there isn't always dandelions and roses on the other side.

Get a load of this jack hole

A person is trapped under an immobile vehicle, limbs broken and the vehicle is seconds away from catching fire. You're in the middle of the desert, there's no reception, and you have no way of freeing him. You have a gun.

Do you watch your friend burn to death or do you put a bullet in his brain?

Why do I care if a strawman burns up?

You can fly in from China. If you go, there is a tour guide and you have to stay with him at all times and do everything he says. You're only allowed to take pictures he authorizes you to take as well.

Oh, this topic is fucking great. Between the people trying to defend going to North Korea(Don't fucking go to North Korea. How could anyone not understand this?), fucking Sandman advocating genocide(and then trying to use the fact that he's a Jew to hide from the fact that he's a fucking monster), and you god damn people still, after all these years, actually responding to that fucking shitposter, this is absolutely amazing.

It's like everyone woke up this morning and decided to reenact what a brain goes through mid-stroke. Bravo.

I could have conveyed it clearer, but it would be moddable. And considering I pretty much said 90% of the posters in this topic are acting like they just finished eating lead paint, one of these salty fucks is going to mark me because they don't like that I'm right.

Let this be a lesson to anyone thinking it'd be cool to do one of those tours there (especially if you're a US citizen). There's no stopping NK from doing this to you if they want. He allegedly stole something but I don't take NK at their word.

Indeed, don't ever visit a country where those in charge can do this to you without consequence. Places like North Korea and the US are terrifying

Killing people to end their indefinite and guaranteed torture isn't wrong, in my opinion. There is literally no difference between the car, cancer, or a Korean concentration camp. It's all suffering, and all three have a guaranteed end of death and no chance to live happily. If you can't see this, or at the very least try to attack this principal, then stop now because you're not going to convince me of anything.

who gave you authority to decide for others how to perceive their life?

im a billionare, i think a peasant like you is living a sad life. so i can decide to end it?

No I saw it. I wish it was able to start back up, but I doubt the state of US and China affairs is going to have an effect on whether or not North Korea sits down and has a talk with South Korea, who they believe is really part of NK (in their world, "Korea"). Especially China, who NK is financially dependent on.

It got far with Kim Jong Il. And Kim Jong Un's government sent their condolences to South Korea after a national tragedy (Sewol) a few years ago. And they have said pretty positive things about Moon Jae In (South Korea's new president).

As for China, those two haven't had the best of relations. China, Russia, and North Korea were the communist triumvirate in Asia. But China and Russia always had that rivalry that N. Korea played off of for decades. "Oh well Russia gave us this, what are YOU going to give us?" was North Korea's economic policy for years.

But now? North Korea is like China's little brother that it is constantly having to deal with. I'm sure China would LOVE a peaceful resolution to the Korean problem. They have become a massive economic power and if North Korea could be opened to the rest of the world, I'm sure China would reap even more benefits.

America on the other hand would be the big hurdle.

I'm not entirely sure? But then again I am far from an expert on North Korea. Everything I have read about North Korea's geography is that they kinda got the short end of the stick. One of the biggest benefits the South got was how much better the geography is with climate, farming, location, etc etc... Plus North Korea has kinda fucked up their land already.

The real advantage is that South Korea is a capitalist nation. They're more interested in making money than trying to extort or guilt trip other countries into giving them handouts, plus they'd rather educate their citizens instead of keeping them ignorant about modern technology and everything else the rest of the world has to offer. Singapore and Japan are similar (edit: compared to North Korea) in lacking lots of resources, yet still being role model nations.

I'm just talking abouy history. North Korea had the immediate disadvantage because their land wasn't as conducive and fertile.

And the comparison to Japan and Singapore is those nations weren't cut in half. It's more similar to the American Cival War. The North was far better prepared to keep continuing as a country. The South wasn't going to last without the North.

Don't get me wrong, what you said is absolutely correct. But South Korea was playing with a stacked deck. Better natural resources and the backing of America. Chung Hee's wheelings and dealing with non-American countries (notably France and Germany) paid dividends.

I wouldn't give total credit to the Western Capitalism idea. I mean it gave rise to military dictatorships (at least three) and there was the IMF issue of the late 90's.

Edit: No not total credit. I mispoke. More like the western influence did lead the country to some terrible times. Not saying you said this at all but I dislike when people say the western influence was the best thing to happen to Korea. Reeks of colonialism. >_>

You make fair points. I will add though that I don't think of North Korea's lack of success as a competion with South Korea. North Korea might not ever surpass the South, but they could be so much more if it wasn't ruled by a tyrannical regime. Everytime I watch a documentary on the matter, I shake my head at how little they care about pursuing a peaceful, rational direction for their nation's betterment. I do not blame the common folk for their sad predicament.
