It Comes at Night is by no means a bad movie, but it was poorly marketed. I'd even go as far as to say it was marketed in mean spirits to draw in a certain crowd that's ultimately going to leave the theater at least slightly disappointed when the movie doesn't deliver half of what they thought it would.

I'm just glad I get to see movies for free because I am not the type to show my ass in a public place to get money back and I don't want to be.

Anyway in other news Steven King is on the rise guys. In addition to It, which is highly likely to be a two-part theatrical release film series, The Dark Tower is getting at least one movie, and The Mist is getting not a reboot, but... a television series. I'm not sure how they're going to make that work. The book wasn't that big so I'm guessing lots of embellishments.

I'm cautiously hyped for The Mist TV series, it starts airing one week from today. Blood Disgusting gave it a good review, haven't seen any others yet.

There's also a show called Castle Rock airing on Hulu sometime in the future, it's supposed to be like a combination of all the King mythos in one show.

I'm marathoning the Friday the 13th movies just because I haven't seen them in forever. The first is still a really creepy movie. The second isn't bad either. Third...wow, the third *really* went overboard with the 3D thing. And all of the characters are jerks

The 3rd is nearly unwatchable with that horrible 3D stuff. Tell me what you think of the fourth, that's my favorite one.

Watched the first episode of The Mist, and it was pretty great in my opinion. I really enjoy the fact that they're deviating from the original story so much while remaining true to the mythology and general themes. The scenes taking place in the mist are beautifully dreamlike and scary. I think maybe some of the acting is a bit off but in general the characters are pretty believable. Definitely deserves a watch.

They even killed off Mrs. Carmody already! Which was a really great scene btw.

2nd episode of The Mist down, less gore but the characters feel more solid. And the tension is pretty amazing in some scenes. I'm really loving this show, anyone check it out yet?

There's some loose stuff that fits the bill. I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Purge comes to mind. I think your best bets are The Master of Horror episode The Washingtonians and the revenge thriller Red, White, & Blue.

The Babadook doesn't have do with Christmas actually but there are definitely no shortage of Christmas horror out there, it's pretty much a dedicated sub-genre.

IKWYDLS takes place during a 4th of July parade, it doesn't really make it that obvious but it's there.

Wish Upon wasn't terrible. It still does a couple things that make you go "Movie, you know that's way too convenient." And it's basically Final Destination for half the movie. But they took chances with the movie and I appreciate that.
