Oh she definitely has had issues at each place. She doesn't usually get along great with her coworkers. And she made the dumb move at this most recent job of telling the director she would be looking for a new job after the screaming event.

I'm getting the impression they are trying to block her from getting a new job because she has never had such a hard time finding a job before. The interviews have gone great, they call her past employers, then she can't even get the interviewers on the phone. There's no way to prove this obviously.

Good news is that you should be eligible for unemployment. You can get that for anything aside from blatantly breaking conduct. I got fired for "performance" when the bitch in my office got promoted to manager (funny how it was never a problem before) and I still got unemployment.

TC, sorry your wife lost her job. It sounds crappy.

Everyone saying to sue etc. Stop. She can't sue. She can be fired for any reason except her being a protected class (race, sex, sexual preference in some states, etc.) She really can't sue.

..Isn't Bereavement required by law? how the fuck can you give proper notice for an unexpected death? I'd understand if it was a friend or distant family member as they aren't included...But an immediate family member, especially your mom, is definitely covered by that...

When you become an "adult" parent's aren't considered immediate family members. Immediate family members would be your kids , husband or wife.

Christ, hey kiddies... Sometimes you get fired. Sometimes employers don't need you anymore, and sometimes they look for reasons, if it weren't for the mess of laws meant to "protect employees" (aka government stepping in the middle of a labor contract betwxt two private citizens) then that employer would be able to just tell you honestly "hey i don't need you anymore, here's some notice, seek employment elsewhere, this is your last 2 weeks here." Sometimes things don't go your way, sometimes through no fault of your own, that's life, the government and all these (apparently flawed) safety nets, have made it hard for people to cope with that reality... Tell her to look for another job or just fail at life and blame the world.

Bosses like her can go straight to hell. Also why not get a new line of employment? It seems like daycares really aren't her forte.

She worked at a day care center for about a year and a half. She had good attendance, with only a few call outs. Her bosses had just given her a performance raise that no one else got. Her mom passed, she called in saying that she needed a few days for the funeral which was out of town and for her own mental health. 3 days. When she came back to work the owner screamed at her for 30 minutes because she "didn't give enough notice" and continued to pull her in the office throughout the week to bring it up again. A week later she was fired. No prior performance or attendance concerns.

I'm serious btw. Submit your case.

That's small claims courts which are usually like civil issues with a max of $5000 IIRC. That isn't even the right type of show.
